Hugo Salamander - Gryffindor House
Joined: 8/6/05
Origin: England, a small village outside of Leicester

Hugo Salamander was a boy blessed in many ways. Not only was he pretty, with blonde wavy hair that fell perfectly no matter how it was cut, blue eyes that could be dreaming as well as piercing and a figure that was taller than usual for his age. He was also from a family that was relatively rich and more important to some in the wizarding world pure blood. He had on top of this been blessed with the ability to charm most of the grown ups around him, which for long hadnt been too hard since he was an only child and had charmed as good as all his relatives by simply existing.

It was no wonder that he had moved around the commonroom on this, his first day at Hogwarts, with a confidence unusual for a first year, a confidence only aquired by those who are used to getting all the attention in the room. And attention he had got, at least more than what was normal for a first year. The Gryffindor commonroom was not, and had never been, a quiet place but Hugo had still managed to be noticed by a few of the older students. True, it had been because hed curled up in one of the large chairs infront of the fire and then twice - promptly refused to move when older students had told him to get out of their seats. This had caused some of the older students to whisper about him and his nerve, something Hugo had failed to notice. He had not been blessed with the same ability to charm his peers as he had the grown-ups, but Hugo usually didnt care. The thing about people who are used to getting all the attention in the room is that theyre often pretty ignorant of anything else that goes on around them.

What Hugo knew was that he liked his new life at Hogwarts. A few of his fellow first year students had joined him in front of the fire, no doubt encouraged by his bold seizure of the chair or simply drawn to anyone who seemed confident on a day that had been filled with nervousness. They were talking tentatively in the way you do when youre new to each other, but Hugo was sure he would be able to find friends in Gryffindor. If not he would always have his cousin Carita who was a first year Slytherin. Hugo had more than half expected to end up in Slytherin as well, his father had been sorted into that house after all, but instead he had ended up in the same house as his mother, and he was not sorry. He had already sent an owl to her and quite expected a gift to arrive with the post in the morning to celebrate the occasion.

In the morning their lessons would start too, Hugo had got a timetable which stated Potions as his first lesson. Though right now lessons wasnt what Hogwarts was about. Hugo had never quite enjoyed reading and he was pretty sure that wouldnt change just because hed moved. No, Hugo was much more interested in meeting new people, seeing new things he couldnt wait until the DADA lessons started and, well, meeting girls. When youre eleven and are sure of the fact that nothing can go wrong for you and have a whole castle to explore education seems to come in second hand.

One of his fellow first years steered the topic into how theyd spent the summer and Hugo was soon taking over the conversation, making them all laugh with his loud description of his recent trip to France...
