Hello and welcome to Year 1 potions. I am Professor Rane and I will be teaching Potions to you.

At the moment, I'm testing out a Discussion Board (See end of each lesson). Feel free to chat on it--as long as it is Potions related. If you have a question to ask me, that is where to go.

Supplies:

- 1 standard sized cauldron (Pewter preferred)
- 1 teaspoon
- 1 mixing spoon

Unit One "Basic Potion Making", Lesson #1: Soothing Potions
Today, we will be making a simple relaxation potion (Soothorus) used to relieve stress and calm nervous tension. Note: All ingredients are found in the student cabinet, free of charge and easy access.

You will need:
o 3 cups of water
o of a peach
o 2 teaspoons of spider legs
o Powdered sea weed

First, pour 3 of the cups of water into your cauldron and heat until boiling point.

Meanwhile, start picking the legs of the common black spiders (Place the rest of the bodies back in the jar) enough that they fill 2 teaspoons worth.

When the water has boiled, pour 1 teaspoon of spider legs in and then sprinkle a touch of sea weed. When the water boils an olive green color, drop in the rest of the spider legs and pour in a cup of water.

At this point, let it simmer while you knead the peach piece into a pulpy substancebut not so much that its practically liquefied.

Drop the pulpy substance of the peach into your cauldron and stir thoroughly for a minute before letting your potion cool.

Your potion should be a light, green shade and should smell warmly of peaches.
