*How to get a Yahoo! ID!*

Many of us seem to be having problems with (a) getting a yahoo ID and (b) linking it to your address

*What does that mean?*

OK, picture that an RPG is a members only club. You can't get in without flashing your ID; before you can flash your ID you need to get an ID. So you apply for one, but your ID is useless without a photo or description of you that associates you with your ID.

With Yahoo! Your ID is a name or word; unfortunately there are so many people around the world with yahoo! IDs that most of the good words and almost all of the names are taken. So you have to choose something original that no one else has. Your name and sir name is a good idea, but I'll leave that to you.

Once you have an ID you still need to link your ID with you, the way to do this is to link your ID with your e-mail Address, after all, to yahoo you are an e-mail address*

*Your e-mail address is what is a member of the RPG, you only get your group mail because you are the owner of your e-mail address. For all yahoo knows James T. Kirk could be receiving the mail posted to [email protected].

*How do I do this?*

*Get yourself an ID:*

estimated time: +- 6 minutes

a) Go into yahoo (www.yahoo.com)

b) A web page will appear with Yahoo! at the top. Find a link that tells you that you can sign up for a yahoo ID. Click on it.

c) Fill out the form.

d) There will be a link or button* at the end that says something along the lines of submit or apply for this account. Click it.

e) If the application does not go, there will be red writing near the top of the screen telling you what mistakes you made. If there is no red writing congratulations, you have a yahoo ID.

f) Log off the Internet or carry on with something different on the net

*Link it to your address:*

estimated time: +- 3 minutes

You will have received a message from yahoo telling you that your registration is confirmed, this means you have an ID, the one you chose earlier

a) go to yahoo again.

b) This time when the Yahoo page comes up go to the gray box on the right hand side of the screen (if not click on sign in) and fill in as follows:

(The gray is on the screen; the black is what you type in)

Yahoo

ID: (type in your new yahoo ID)

Alternative address:

(Type in your e-mail address)

Password:

(In filling in your form you chose a password, type that in (remember capital letters count)

c) The page that appears will be a welcome to yahoo. Find the link that says  Conversion Wizard. Click on it.

d) Follow the instructions.

e) When they ask for an authorization code click on the link that says that you don't have one, within one minute you will receive an e-mail from yahoo telling you your code.

f) Carry on following instructions. The rest is easy.

Good luck!
