Appearance - Valentine is slight of build, and has short black hair, and insipid pale eyes. He's nothing special to look at.
Personality: Sly and scheming, Valentine Visconti is rapidly gaining reputation amongst fellow Slytherins for being a tactician - he has devised some of their more successful plots against the Gryffindors. In this way he has gained the respect of some of the more obvious bullies of his house, and these days they tend to leave him alone. This wasn't always the case - with a name like Valentine, being sorted into Slytherin was probably the worst thing that could have happened to him, and his first year at school was a miserable experience. Even though most of his house-mates no longer make fun of his name, Val is still particularly touchy about it, and over the years he has developed quite a nasty streak when provoked. Val is not a very physical boy, he detests Quidditch, and tends to lurk at the edges of most conversations rather than being the centre of attention. He does not seek the limelight � and tends to leave that sort of thing to the more outgoing members of his house, like Draco. He is also rather shy around girls.
History: Valentine's father, Antonio, is an Italian magus of high standing and the Visconti's are a reputable pure-blood wizarding family in Europe. Valentine's mother, Elizabet (no h), was an English pure-blood witch with an unfortunate sense of humour � for example, she thought that it was cute to call her son Valentine, because he was born on 14th February. She died under mysterious circumstances when Val was three years old. Val�s father remained in London after her death, though has always dreamed about going back to Tuscany one day.
Familiar: Val has a barn owl called Wraith, though he dreams of the day when he will be able to have a raven or bird of the crow family as his familiar.
