Painted Desert unique sheep breed, that has just recently originated by striving for color, & hair. The painted desert colors and patterns may come in a vareity of choices, spotted, to tri-colored, to quad-colored, having spots, or splashes. Others may have frosted coats, which may blend together to form roan. Horns on the Painted Desert rams are specifically chosen to have rapid growth, and an impressive shape. Weather having 2 beautifully curled horns, or 4 magnifeicent horns the rams are usually an eye catcher. To acheive the rapid horn growth and loud colors, Painted Desert have been crossed with Rambouillet, Jacobs, Barbados, Mouflon, Corsican, & Merino to produce what we now have. The coat of a Painted Desert is very unique in its special way, in the winter they will get enough "wool" to protect themselves, but in the summer the "wool" will simply give way and come off all by itself, with no need to shear, leaving behind a nice smooth, silky summer coat.
