Galactic Cooperative - Mission Report
Form 110-2
Officer Filing Report - Lieutenant Commander Ray Parancema,
Security Chief, CSS Prometheus
MISSION PARAMETERS:
Stardates inclusive - 23.02.217 to 24.02.217
Phases - 3 sorties (2 combat related)
CAPSULE:
On Stardate 23.02.217, the CSS Prometheus (Contracted cruiser-class vessel, Captain Lord Calvin Hobbes commanding) and CSS Genesis (Co-Operative Owned assault scout class vessel, Captain Volo Vrax commanding) was activated for duty after a four week stand down time. The fleet was hard-pressed in its duty, yet completed all major objectives and scored an amazing 93% rating. The following changes were made to the crew and vessel compliment under Capt. Hobbes command:
Medical 1 Centurion Julius Faubus was
replaced with current Medical 2 Centurion Trenton Signar
Medical 2 was filled by Lt JG Nog Trebbin, who also served as Away Officer and Comm/EW in sortie #2-3.
CSS Genesis (Cooperative Owned Assault
Scout) duty roster changes included:
None at start of mission.
Sortie #1 - CSS Prometheus launched with
the CSB Keyhole (Co-Operative Listening Outpost) attached and in tow. Assigned as escort was the CSS Genesis. It should be noted that the Prometheus was
undergoing several engine repairs and had power and propulsion problems. Arriving safely at the location the base was
to be set-up and test runs to be placed upon it. Commander Shasta Pessi was given command of the CSB Keyhole and
serves as well as Comm/EW officer on the Prometheus. Before the vessels could start the tests the vessels were
attacked by a force of pirate corvettes under the command of Sathar Marines. A battle ensued in which Commander Pessi
found himself in command after the First Officer was relieved of duty and was
subsequently killed in the melee.
Captain Hobbes remained undersides to aid in protection of the station
and the docking equipment on the CSS Prometheus. The battle went well and the pirate/Sathar vessels were destroyed
and/or boarded. One Sathar ship had 20
pirates as prisoners, all were placed in stasis and sent to Co-Operative
headquarters. The other ship boarded
Prometheus and was repelled, but not after the death of the junior First
Officer on his first away mission. Also
lost in the melee was Midshipman Phillip Leonard.
Sortie #2 As the Prometheus was moderately
damaged and plagued by power problems, it was spacedocked for engine re-alignment
and removal. During this time, Captain Vrax
was assign patrol duty around the nebula area of the CSB Keyhole. The CSS Genesis was launched and encountered
a large pirate base and several strange readings in a asteroid belt. The Genesis made first contact with a
Hokuten race known as the Chulpex.
These creatures appeared friendly and open to negotiation. Captain Vrax boarded and discussed the
preliminary terms of an alliance with the Chulpex. They were receptive to the offer and shared information about the
Hokuten Enclave and its political structure.
This will be added to new mission orders. Through talking, he learned that the Clans of Stardeath pirates
controlled the station that they scanned and that it was supplied by robotic
Sathar freighters from the Sathar Empire.
Together a plan was formulated to board a robotic ship and get aboard
the station to ascertain the strength and capabilities of the pirates. The CSS Genesis returned to base.
Sortie #3 Upon return, a council of
officers was held. A plan to board the
station was approved and put into action.
The CSS Genesis was put used to insert a team upon the incoming Sathar
robot freighter. The CSS Prometheus
held distance at the ready to respond if needed, as the engines were in a
touchy state even yet. The team boarded
and converted the freighter to a manual system in case of emergency with
Chulpex help. The team boarded the
station and found that the compliment and skill of the pirates were both quite
high. After seeing the condition and
size of the base, the team decided that discretion was the better part of valor
and proceeded to escape the station.
Two officers, Midshipman Hatta and Centurion Nog Trebbin, fell into a
trap but were rescued. Midshipman Hatta
disappeared, but it was later learned that he avoided detection to negotiate with
the pirates for a command and sold out the team and their base location. After a sharp firefight the team left the
station and was allowed to eacape as Midshipman Hatta explained and prepared
the pirates for an attack on the CSB Keyhole.
The plan was almost perfect, but Commander Pessi alertly intercepted
transmissions that allowed the Co-Operative forces to prepare defenses and make
a stand. Distress calls were sent and the
CSS Calorney (Co-Operative owned armed freighter, Commander Deed Fengall commanding)
and 2 Chulpex vessels responded. The Battle
of the Keyhole had started in earnest. The
CSS Prometheus flagged the fleet despite the power grid and drive problems that
made operation uncertain at best. After
a fighter attack, a small flotilla of corvette and frigate class pirate ships dropped
out of hyperspace at an erroneous location due to Captin Vraxs interception of
a nav buoy. The fleet attacked the station
with a frigate, a station-cracker, 2 corvettes, an assault scout under the
command of Hatta, and a frigate under the command of Captian Stardeath. The battle was fierce and drawn-out, but the
skilled commanders of the Co-Operative fleet fought valiantly. The
pirates did manage to breach the CSB Keyhole, but were repelled in a fierce gunfight. In the end, the pirate fleet was utterly destroyed
and their fueling outpost captured.
Their base and many vessels remain at large. It was learned that the pirates were major supporters of the
Confederation, and thus this defeat utterly affected the Confederations
network in the area and across the Frontier.
Co-Operative losses were severe as
well. The CSS Genesis was destroyed
trying to repel the station-cracker and the CSS Prometheus was severely damaged
and had to be towed to a repair area by the relief force that arrived to aid
the defenders. The CSS Calorney and
both Chulpex ships were destroyed as well.
CSS Prometheus was put in for repairs and
crews were ordered to stand down for a temporary time until new mission
parameters are designed.
CSS Sabre (Co-Op owned Assault Scout class
vessel) was commissioned under the command of Captain Vrax.
CSS Kestrel (Co-Op owned Corvette class
vessel) was assigned to Flt. Capt. Hobbes Battle Group and Lt. Commander Rogan
Duffelchair was recommended for command by Capt. Vrax. This is under consideration.
Of line officers, Captain Hobbes was
promoted to Fleet Captain, Commander Shasta Pessi was promoted to Senior
Commander, Lt. Rogan Duffelchair was promoted to Lt. Commander as well as now
Lt. Commander Ray Parencema.
