Master Roy has been training in Taekwon-do since 1977. After joining the Canadian Military at a young age Master Roy found himself serving at several military bases through out Canada and Europe where he had the opportunity to train and meet with several top martial artists. One of Master Roy�s great mentors was Grand Master Chang Man Yang where he had his first opportunity to train in Hapkido. Master Roy opened his first dojang in 1989 in Baden-Baden, West Germany. Arriving back to Canada in 1993 after serving five years in Europe Master Roy began teaching at the local YMCA in Moose Jaw, Sask. In 1994 he opened his present school in Moose Jaw. Master Roy retired from the military in 2001 with over 20 years service to his country. In 2002 he rejoined the Canadian Military in the Air Force Reserve Unit. He now serves as an Aviation Technician with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. Master Roy is the president of the Korean Combative Arts Association and the director of the Western Canadian Haidong Gumdo (The Korean Sword Art) under Grand Master Won Kap Chung |
