5,678 He-111 medium bombers were produced and this one was built in Spain.
Designed as a transport aircraft,(1) the He-111 medium bomber first flew
on February 24, 1935. It entered German air force service in 1936 and it
was the most numerous German medium bomber at the beginning of World War
II. It took part in the German Luftwaffe bombing of London and England,
during the Battle of Britain, in 1940.
