| The Roybridge kennel was officially established in 1993 by Bridget Enticott and became a partnership in 1999 when I (Donna) was offered the partnership as part of my 21st birthday present. Our relationship with each other is grandmother/grandaughter. We are located in a small town called Chard, in Somerset, England. We purchased our first samoyed bitch called Kim in 1992. As is usual we were encouraged to show her by her breeder and we had limited success. After a little while of campaigning Kim and studying the winning dogs (that we were always stood behind!) it became obvious that she was not really of show quality and that she would never become a great achiever. By now we were well and truly bitten by the showing bug! We decided that we should buy a sammy male from a leading breeder, as at that time there were a number of top quality males winning in the ring. We contacted John (late) & Pat Sharp - Karazoe Samoyeds in order to book our puppy. They had no puppies at the time and no definate plans for their next litter. They then put us in contact with friends of theirs who had just had a litter 2 days old, 3 boys and 1 girl of Karazoe/Zamoyski breeding, Perfect!! We contacted Ray & Kay Pycroft - Pykra Samoyeds and booked our puppy. Luckily for us we had been the first enquiry for a male pup and we were promised the pick of the boys, a promise which they held true right up until we collected him at 8 weeks ( despite other offers from more established breeders/exhibitors). This puppy was to become Ch Pykra Spring Bear at Roybridge -"Blou". Blou was the real foundation of Roybridge Samoyeds and the start of the kennels sucess. Not only a successful show dog himself he also proved himself as a sire , producing in his very first litter to Ch Zamoyski Lucky Melissa our big winning Ch Zamoyski Lucky Casanova at Roybridge - "Topper"- Top Samoyed UK 1996,97,98,99 and 2000, Top Working Dog 1997. Also Ch Zamoyski Lucky Jessica -"Jessica Top Samoyed Bitch 1998.(When later mated to Ch Zamoyski Lucky Miranda - younger full sister to Melissa) The introduction of Astutus Abracadabra at Roybridge - "Ceiligh" saw success for Roybridge as a breeder. Producing only two litters so far giving us three champions, one group winner, one record maker, plus other waiting for single tickets for their crown. Thanks to the pairing of Casanova and Abracadabra we have attained the accolade of Top Breeder 2000, UK (joint) We are only a small kennel of 6 samoyeds, all of which live in the house like children. The dogs are very much part of the family and have totally dominated our household. Now in the year 2001 and thanks to these 3 Sams and their descendants, we are a well established kennel that not only show Champions but also breeds and sell top quality dogs to others. We aim to produce happy, healthy samoyeds that conform to the breed standard but pocess that something special that makes them "simply the best" All dogs are shown, trained, groomed and prepared for the ring by Donna. |
