MEAL PLANNER & COOK

PART 1: As a healthy meal planner, your first job is research the nutritional needs for campers aged 8-12.
Use library books or links to the websites below to get your information.
Then you will create a 1-2 page PowerPoint presentation
that will teach kid campers how to make healthy food choices.

PART 2:  Next, you will then be ready to develop a healthy menu
of breakfast, lunch,  dinner, and 2 snacks each day for 3 days
by completing  3
Nutrition Tracker sheets.
You will think of an appealing way to display this menu for the campers.
To create your menu display, you may use KidPix, Inspiration, or Microsoft Word.
You may also choose to use collage or drawing materials to make a poster.

Below are some rules for your menu:
Each meal must meet recommended guidelines,
with all food groups from the pyramid represented
and within the suggested number of calories.
The
Interactive Pyramid and other links below will help you make healthy decisions.
Read
Learning About Calories to find out  how many calories 8-12 year olds should consume in a day.
Then play a few of the games below, especially the
Blast-Off Game, and apply what you learn to your menu.

After you've finished your first job of developing a healthy menu,
you're an official nutritional expert!

The following websites and interactive games will help you to learn about planning a healthy menu for kids:
