EXERCISE AND ACTIVITY DIRECTOR

PART 1. First, you will learn about the importance of exercise for kids 8-12 years old.
Upon conducting research by using the internet and nonfiction library books,
you will create 1 - 2 PowerPoint slides to teach your lazy campers about exercise.
Specifically, you need to teach them the
who, what, when, where, why, and how of exercise.

Who should exercise?
What kinds of exercise are good for kids?
When should kids exercise, and how often?
Where are some places to exercise?
Why should kids exercise, and what are the benefits?
How can kids exercise safely?

PART 2.  Next, you'll be in charge of the activities offered at your new camp.
Your campers should have at least 5 different healthy activity choices each day.
Remember that most of your campers would prefer to eat bon bons and watch tv,
so you'll have to be really creative and
find some very inspiring activities to meet a variety of kids' interests.
With 100 acres of land, a large lake, a horse pasture, and miles of trails,
you should find plenty of recreational activities
to motivate your campers to get in shape!

You will be ordering all equipment necessary to motivate
50 lazy campers to get moving!

Use the online catalogs below to make your imaginary purchases.
Keep track of your orders and money spent on your
Equipment Record.

RULES: Your team has $1,000,000 to spend.
Any building construction projects that you take on will cost $25,000.
(ex. building a gymnasium or bowling alley...)
Any outdoor construction projects will cost $13,500
(ex. golf course, bmx track, etc.)

COMMUNICATION TIP:
You will have to keep in touch with the Banker
and keep an acceptable balance.

You'll also need to discuss safety matters with the Safety Engineer,
and order any activity-related safety equipment (such as bike helmets or safety nets...)
needed to maintain the safety of your campers!

Once you have decided what equipment you'll buy, you will need to draw a map
to show your campers where to do what.
Your map will also be used as a form of advertisement, so it should appeal to prospective campers!
Remember, you want the 3rd graders to choose your plan!
