Petitioner: (waves me over to booth) Would you sign a petition to put Ralph Nader on the ballot?
Me: Honestly, the only reason I'd sign the petition would be to split votes off from the Democratic party.
Petitioner: Oh, okay. Thank you.
I began to walk away.
Petitioner: What's your major?
Me: Biochemistry. I want to be a doctor.
Petitioner: You married?
Here's where I start feeling a little wary.
Me: Nooo.
Petitioner: Do you have a boyfriend?
Me: Umm, nooo. (I started to walk away again.)
Petitioner: Do you want one?
Me: Only if I've been friends with him for a looong time. (I emphasized the "long" part)
Petitioner: Oh. Will you be my friend?
Me: Uh, no. I'm not trying to be mean, but no.
Petitioner: Okay, have a good day.
Me: You too.
The rest of the walk to my car was uneventful..thankfully. LOL
