Xmas at The Strawberry Bank

Meriden

Over thirty Solihull judo players and friends get into the Christmas spirit!

On Saturday 2nd December, 2006, Solihull Judo Club had its annual Christmas Dinner / Dance at the Strawberry Bank, Meriden. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves tucking into the festive fare in congenial surroundings. The more energetic amongst us, could be seen jiving away on the dance floor into the early hours! Thanks again to Mike Yates for his sterling efforts in organising the meal. What would we do without him?

Everyone enjoyed the occasion, the food was good, the friends were friendly, the Disco Dancing energetic and hugely appreciated by those who had the nerve to get up and have-a-go.

Our Juniors have a Xmas Party
2004

An Excellent spread was enjoyed by all the children

at their Xmas Party on Friday 3rd December 2004

A big thank you goes to
Bev Sherwood
and
Rachel Riches
for organising everything, especially the excellent spread.
A selection of 'goodie' boxes were there for the taking by all those who attended.
The Juniors go from strength to strength and deserve all the support we can give. It is hoped that our Seniors will take time off to demonstrate their skills to the young ones. Also, the Club would welcome more parents getting involved, both on the mat (we hope) and in the general running and organising of events. Anybody with fund raising skills will be most welcome.

We know how to enjoy ourselves !

Xmas Curry in

Solihull

A big thank you again to
Mike Yates
for organising our annual Xmas meal. And at such short notice. He worked a miracle having only a couple of weeks notice to get everything organised.

On Friday 17th December 2004, over twenty Solihull players and friends enjoyed a festive meal at the Shades of Raj in Solihull. The meal was well earned as most, including visiting players from Coventry, built up an appetite at the usual Friday night training session beforehand!

Also there, six very special Judo friends: Carol de la Pole, Dave Walker (and Pam), Keith Cannaby (and Ann Marie), Roy Manuel (and Rhona), and Roy (two medals) Muller, Les Hudspith
The evening included good food, live music and a first class stand-up comedian.
Best of all, Barbara was there looking half her age wearing a fabulous taupe satin full length dress, delicately set off by a crystallised top bodice. Wow!

Solihull Club visit to the Paris Multi - Nations Judo Tournament

8th - 9th February, 2003

Joyce Malley, Lena Strang and Roy Muller from Solihull Judo Club jetted off to Paris to watch the Multi- Nations Tournament. It was an action-packed week-end with plenty of superb judo to be seen. As an 'A' tournament with qualifying points for the Olympics, it attracted the highest level of competitors.

British players did well on the day. Craig Fallon (u_60 kg) came away with gold, gaining a yuko in the last few seconds of a nail biting final. Karina Bryant (o_78 kg) also beat her French opponent to take the coveted gold.

The club is planning further visits in the future. Roy Muller may be entrusted with booking hotel accommodation again as everything turned out well in the end! If approached during any Friday training session, he will supply further details!
