It must be 25 years since the first training session for me at Solihull. I was a member of the National Young Mens Squad and because I could not get the training around Northampton, myself and my mate and great judo competitor, Stuart Travis, were welcomed with open arms at the club Pete ran.

Whether you were a regular or a visitor Pete would always manage to bring the best out in you.

A great motivater when randori was going on, you could sense Pete's eyes scanning, so there was no chance to skive.

My recent promotion to 5^th Dan is thanks to Pete, bloody good coaching and a high standard of fellow players.

Finally, I would like to say I regard Pete as a treasured friend and valued coach and as such irreplaceable.

My warmest sincere good wishes to Pete and his Family.
