OBSERVATIONS

I observed a girl name Ellika during the first week of Little Tiger PreSchool. Ellika is the youngest student in the PreSchool and is fortunate to be in my class. The first day of class, Ellika had a hard time to depart from her mother. The mother gave me Ellika and told her she is going to the bathroom. Ellika started to cry hysterically. She screamed in a high pitch and distubred the rest of the classes. I walked with her outside the class and she continued to cry. I tried to soothe her by tellin her mommy will come back. It seemed like Ellika understood what I said but didn't want to face that fact. I got Ellika to stop crying a couple times the first day. Once we got back into the class, I showed her all the toys we had. She seemed interested and started to play. But she started to cry when she saw her diaper bag. She was like this throughout the first day. When her mother came to pick her up, she had this great big smile and she ran to her. I baby her the first day because she needed to adjust the changes she was going to go through in school. The second day of school she was the same as the first day. Ellika wandered to another classroom instead of staying in our class. Mrs, Akasaki and I came to a conclusion that she wanted to be in a loving enviroment. Our class was not a loving and nuturing enviornment at that time. Ellika also became attached to Mrs. Akasaki. I think she became attach to her because she was an older caring person similar to her own mother. Ellika would only listen to Mrs. Akasaki for the first couple days. The third day of school Ellika's neighbor named Cody came to school. Cody cried his first day of school just like Ellika. Ellika watched Cody cry and she tried to comfort him by hugging Cody. Ellika began to get involve with the art and snack in our class. She likes to color and she likes stickers. She gets hands on with the snacks. The group members and I realized we needed to keep the class interesting to keep her in our class instead of wondering. I noticed she enjoyed story time and songs. I tried to keep it lively in the class. She slowly began to play with others such as Cody. They would play with the playdough or the sand box. Ellika only cries when she leaves her mother. She is fine throughout the whole day. She has improved over the last two weeks and I am very proud of her.
