Who are Cub Scouts?

Cubs are boys between the ages of 8 and 10.5 years.  There are loads of fun things that you can do as a Cub Scout. You will get a chance to try lots of different activities like swimming, music, exploring, computing and collecting. If you do them properly you will get a badge which you can wear on your uniform.  They meet together as a 'pack' and enjoy a flexible programme of varied activities.

Some of our past activities!

Dick Whittington

Pantomime December 2002

The Cubs acted an evening performance of a traditional pantomime for their parents, friends and the Beaver Scouts.  Chief and GSL wrote the script, parents helped with the costumes and make-up (and the washing-up) and the Scouts organised the refreshments.  The Beavers came to watch and after the performance some were invested into the group.

Go KartS !

July 2002

The Cubs spent a few weeks on this project.  They started with some good ideas and then drew some plans.  Next they built cardboard models to see if their ideas would work before they attempted the real thing!

They even managed to rope in the help of a dad and set to work.

Using only reclaimed materials, wood and paint from all their homes, and old pram wheels, (these were by far the hardest thing to obtain!) two different models came off the assembly line!  A four wheeled version was completed and a six wheel design still lies unfinished!!

Harry Potter Night

October 2001

THE DAILY PROPHET

Harry Potters came from all over Roxwell to the official Harry Potter evening on Monday 29th October 2001.  Everyone dressed up, attended the quiz and ate the feast, crisps, cola and lemonade (some muggle food and drink).  The highlight of the evening was the quiz,  where fellow wizards pitted their wits against each other in hard fought challenges.  I won the quiz, but very narrowly!

Tricks were played - there were vanishing malteasers, arrows  turning the other way without people touching them, balls disappearing and reappearing under cups, and I made three gold rings vanish!  Everyone had a great time and a group photograph of all the Harry Potters was taken.  Smile please!

The wizards finally finished with a game where you had to be the first player to get the cards from Fluffy,  a.k.a. the three headed dog.  By travelling round the board until a player finds a set of steps then they place  the card on one of the holes to get there first.  A ghost knocks people back so beware! (unless you have the special ghost protector card).
