How two very different cultures treat time is apparent during preparations for a performance. Thirty minutes before the
concert, some Japanese would start glancing at the clock with a worried
look; fifteen minutes before the time, lines of concern would appear on
their faces; at five minutes before time, they would be in panic mode;
for the Filipinos, the attitude would likely be, “We still have TWO full
minutes on the clock for God’s sake, what’s all the fuss about?”
In the end,
however, everyone forgets the time and enjoys the performance.
