Francis and Alelo feed the pigeons with Mr. Sawada of the Shiinoki Moving Service for the Handicapped, while Grace dodges from the birds that come too close. Asakusa, Tokyo.

In the Philippines, pigeons don’t come this close to people, which explains the three Rondalla On Wheels members’ excitement. Indeed, even the big crows which have become a nuisance in Tokyo’s streets are a rare sight even in rural areas of the Philippines.

This scene is in Asakusa in downtown Tokyo, where the band’s members went sightseeing on one of their days off. On this day, too, scores of Japanese volunteers came to offer assistance, which was usually done by members of Friendship Asia themselves, and by the drivers from the Shiinoki Moving Service for the Handicapped, which provided most of the Rondalla On Wheels’ transportation.
