| Thats it. I leave my dorm and lock the door behind me, why I am not sure it isn't like it is going to matter. I descend the stairs, walk through a door, and into the main lobby. I bid farewell to the person at the desk like I have done many times before and I step out into the night. It is so cold. It seems as if deaths icy hands are all ready on my shoulders. I walk down the snow-covered sidewalks. The campus is quite and all that can be heard is the hollow sound of my footsteps. I look at the ground as I walk and see my shadow pass me by as I pass the streetlights. I can relate the shadow, void of color and body. Finally I reach the building, and look up at it. It looks as if it has a sad story to tell. The cold brick exterior broken only by black window frames that jet out of the building. I enter, take a sharp left, and open the door to the stairwell that leads to the basement. Only the emergency lights are on when I reach the basement. There is no need to turn on anymore lights I know where I am going. The key finds its way into the lock and the door swings open. There are papers on my desk that I need to be signed by me, what is going to happen when those don't get signed? |
