Proud to be American's, are we? This is something we all should feel all the time, not only when some major event rocks the foundation of our culture. We fly our flags on Flag Day, and take our days off for Labor Day and, Memorial Day, but do we ever do anything truly patrioctic with those days? For most of us we open our pools or spend the afternoon on our boats, and very seldom take notice of the observed holiday.
Each of us could learn what it means to be proud to be an American from veterans of the armed services. They are the patriotic blood that pumps through America. They are the ones who know first hand the price at which our freedom was won. They are the ones who live with the American spirit everyday, not just on occasion. To be truly proud to be an American, one remember everyday the cost of our freedom. |
