| Steven, Thank you for your thoughts on several topics. I am aware of most of the topics in your note to me, and a few more. Clinton lowered the reporting requirements to $750 for international transactions from $10,000, which means that the "massive funding" supposedly given to the terrorists was known by the Feds prior to the WTC collapse. The wife of the head of the war on drugs in South America from the U.S. Army was convicted of drug smuggling. I agree with your assessments of the situation, but I can do little in Columbus. I need to go to Washington, where I can at least get an appointment for lunch with other Congressmen to discuss these concerns. Doing this will allow me to gather a coalition of like minded people and perhaps we can take this country back from the attorneys and the life long politicians that try to keep their jobs rather than do the correct thing. Hopefully, I can get your support in my campaign and enlist you to assist me in getting the word out. I do not have the money of my opponent, but I am looking to get the will of the people such as yourself, to go vote at least one more time in May. Charlie P.S. My campaign staff meeting in Columbus is Wednesday. If you have an interest, please let me know. |
| Freedom. That is a word President Bush has been using a lot in recent weeks. He has used the word in a sentence like this one, "we will protect the freedoms of the American people." Think about that for a minute, we will protect the freedoms of the American people. What freedoms are we going to lose that we already have not lost? Americans long before September 11th have not been able to travel or work anywhere in the world that they have wished, without fear. Americans are targets for any right wing militant groups there is. In 1993 Three American missionaries were took captive by the Colombian Guerrilla Organization. Their families later learned, that in 1996 that they had been brutally killed, what about their freedoms? The United States never lunched a full-scale assault on those terrorists. The U.S. has also paid off terrorist. In 1979 Iranian students took over an American embassy in Iran. They killed one hostage, a Sargent in the army, by hanging him. Video was taken of this and it was release for the world to see. On the last day of President Carter presidency he released eight million dollars in frozen Iranian funds to ensure the safe release of the hostages; the captors released two Americans. President Reagan tried, and successfully freed the hostages by selling American weapons to the terrorists. There has been hundreds terrorist attacks on American in which Americans died. The U.S. seemed to do little other then give out a slap on the wrist. Possibly if the Untied States showed that it would not stand for any acts of violence against its citizens maybe the September 11th attacks would not have taken place. Many of our freedoms have been slowly withdrawn from. This time the people responsible for taking those freedoms are not terrorists from over seas, or renegade militias with in the states. The people responsible for taking our freedoms away are our senators, congressmen, president; our government is the one responsible. One freedom we have lost is privacy. We can no longer be sure our telephone conversations are between the person we are talking to and ourselves. A new bill that has been signed by President Bush allows for roaming wiretaps. That is just one aspect, but this all started long ago. In 1972 President Nixon sign a bill making it mandatory that banks report any withdraws over five thousand dollars. Today that figure is down to three thousand dollars. Why does the government need to know that I am withdrawing my money? It is little freedoms we are losing. Now those little freedoms are starting to add up and we are feeling the effects. The worst freedom we have lost to the hands of our government is, the freedom to live. Today people are so worried about the economy doing poorly, and why is that? That is because with a poor economy we do not have the opportunity to make as much money as we need to pay the high taxes placed on us by the government. So people need to go out and work two, three jobs. It has been this way for years now. During the great depression millions in the Midwest lost their farms and businesses because they could not afford their mortgage and the taxes. The drought that plagued the Midwest during that time did not help things, but there was little in tax relief. If the economy is poor then the government is not getting enough money to fund its programs, therefore it taxes the working class even more. It is a cruel cyclic that started long ago, and there is no sight in end. President Bush can protect our freedoms, and everyone should be grateful for that, because we do not have that many left |
