7 O'clock came phase 3 of the action. I was prised out of the chair by the phone, Went and cleaned the Gasket faces up, and put Plenty of Hermetite round the oil hole ( to try and stop that Bloody oil leak! ) When I changed the head a few weeks ago, I used Blue Instant Gasket for this job. Take it from me, dont use it! it is basically silicone sealer, with a touch of blue added. When I removed the cracked head, it was nowhere to be seen! it is good for thermostats etc., but didnt appear to be beefy enough to be sandwiched between head and block. Stick with Blue Hylomar or Red Hermetite for this!

It all bolted back together with no problems. The injection harness has been wired up, and a split hose in the PCV system has been replaced. I rather think that this is the cause of the high idle speed I have talked ( well moaned on about! ), on a few occasions. I rather suspect that the manifold was sucking in fresh air instead of all the nasty stuff, and the ECU was compensating for that, by raising the Idle speed.

All that remains to be done now, is the timing belt put on and tensioned-not my favourite job by any means, and filling up with coolant. Hopefully it will go! If it doesn't, you will be the first to know!!
