Excuse Our Mess

Although we like things nice and neat,
such plans are ruined by little feet.
They're muddy tracks on kitchen floors.
And flying dust from open doors.

A chair is by the cookie jar,
because they couldn't reach that far.
And listen to those giggling sounds
as little persons make their rounds.

We'd like our living room kept clean.
But mostly it's a cluttered scene --
With lots of prized and much-loved toys
left there by busy girls and boys.

Someday the house will be so still --
No mess to tend, no milk to spill.
But till that day, excuse our mess,
for such a house the Lord does bless.
