......friends Continued

- Colleen & Robin - who we had originally met on a dance floor on the Cook Islands and with typical NZ hospitality invited us to stay in their house in Blenheim and were our kind hosts for a few days
- Britta, Fred & 2 year old Noe - who we had cycled with briefly on the North island and then bumped into them again in a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere a few weeks later. We cycled with them on & off for the rest of our time in NZ and look forwarding to taking up Fred's promise to cycle with us in the Black Forest when we are in France later in the trip.
- David (from USA) - at nearly 60 & looking 40 a great advert for the health properties of cycling.
- Patrick from Ireland - who had a major handicap -  a hired bike -  and so spent as much time in the repair shop as on the road!
- Gerry & Lynn (from Aberdeen) - who showed typical Scottish hospitality in their campervan one evening......."just another wee dram"
- Jane (from Finland) - who we met again after staying on the same Fijian island a month or two before. A great evening of food and wine was had catching up on the intervening period.
- Philip (from NZ) - a cyclist who we had briefly met one evening and we next saw him in a town centre shopping arcade a week later preaching the gospel to a non-existant audience! (Each to their own)
- the lady in Otematata who invited us in to her house for tea & buscuits as there was no cafe in the village.
