"It's more than free-- it's family."
(A saying of Bob's) I'll shout "food in the woods" not "free food". That's because we run on kickdowns. If you have nothing to kick to the kitchen, we'll especially kick down the food. If you have stuff to kick down, we take it. We love you and all you have to offer in the same spirit. The Magic Bowl kitchen runs on helpers, food, beads, lighters, shovels, doo-dads, smiles, stories-- you get the picture. And we know your stories and such are the essence of living in freedom--- but not free. They cost something, in heart, soul, work, sweat, etc. Not as much in the woods, but in town money is a proper communication, almost expected, and we don't want to exclude people who speak in that language from feeling welcome: money is one of the kickdowns you might kick if you were so inclined and able to kick it.
In Pennsylvania in 1999, a small first circle of bellies who lived and worked camping near Magic Bowl named it that. Bob had a One-Pot stop name from 1997, but we got more pots, and there was possible unrealized infringement on the name :) The kitchen have since fed tens of thousands of meals to anyone who was around us. And as we prefer it when more people are around us we are hitting the road to serve more meals than ever in 2005, plus coffee and other beverages, solar-baked goodies, and ensuring health and safety standards just like any self-respecting restaurant.
"we" represents Bob of the basoon voice, Becca the scribe, Glenn the Good and our little Beanie Baby, our family. We want to be a part of great things happening in our country, and want to go on the road to do it in person, with lotsafolkeverywhere!!! We want to show off the solar ovens and panels that should be a part of everyone's conscious care of resources. We want to let our freak flag fly a little too, and show how valid a part of this nation that is, and just share of who we are and see who you all are. We'll let you know when we're coming, still preparing as of 1/05 planning departure of at latest 4/05
