| "The Boys Always had an ability to make young Joey cry..... i don't know what that was.." (wintah's mum) |
| Roundabout 5 was, and sort of is, an alternate rock band from the outback town of Dalby, Qld. There were four members, Rohan on Drums, Wintah on Bass, Nolan on Guitar and Michael on Lead Vocals. Then Nolan left with a friend to the far reaches of Australia. He is currently in W.A. SO.... then there were three. The Band did a few gigs around Dalby, with little success but had reasonalble amounts of fun in the process. When people started knocking their interpretations of other bands songs, they decided to write their own - that way no-one knew what they were supposed to sound like. Again - the band had fun. So they wrote about 10 songs and decided they should record a CD. With $100 under the belt they hired some equipment from a local guy and recorded 5 songs in a school classroom (sort of). It was crap in quality and production - but the band persisted. Flogging off copies in chinchilla covered the expense and the band was back on level ground in terms of finance. While he dislikes the publicity, Wintah (T.B.Player) is the son of an ex-custard, ex-titanics member, who just happened to own a minature recording studio. So, when the rest of australia was watching the olympics, Wintah and Michael were plodding away - seeing how many effects they could squeeze into six songs. The result was average, and the band regrets wasting their, and Glenns time. However it was an experience. Roundabout_5 is now a HOOGIE specialist band - reforming only for the HOOGIE festival, which they performed at last year (just before it rained like buggery and moved inside)_ So folks - that is the long and short of roundabout 5. A band with little skill, less money, worse equipment, but unlimited attempts of unbridled fun. It was worth it. |
