You can clearly see the particles from the top plane of the wing trying to escape around the edge and get to the lower pressure of the bottom face. We are limited in mesh as we cannot afford paralel procesing and the like, but we are making well due with what we have. This is the first car I made when I got a request for car data, I also made up the wing profile by just eyeballing it and not calculating anything. In no way has this car been designed in some way we find correct hehe. It was quickly thrown together to see in general what we were capable of. I will say I have been quite pleased with Paul, the only thing I would change is giving him more hours in a day. Both these pictures are from Paul Casalmir using Fluent.
Here we focused on seeing the vertex made at the wingtip. You can see how the path flow spins, and it is directed to the inside of the tire. This car was designed without endplates to see this affect, not because we think it is good for aerodynamic effiency hehe. I will cover this more later but I am still restructuring the site.

The pictures in CFX are all from Russ Harrison. I have been pleased with his work as well, if I could change one thing on his end, itd be his importing, at the moment he only has access to import iges which makes complex models nightmares, but he sure pulled this one off. This picture shows the areas of a certain pressure, as you can see its high pressure areas, note the texas sized area in front of the tire. See why teams go to such lengths on their endplates to direct a little flow around them?

This snap shows flow paths around the wingtip with no endplate. See how bad the tires screw up everything? I can see why the slimmer bridgestones have a huge aero advantage. Makes you wonder how much you'd be willing to sacrafice. Or even have slims for Monza and wide tires for Monaco. Man I like lookin at these flow paths. Again this is by Russ Harrison, lives in England, seems to know his stuff. Not just CFD but he is telling me things i didnt know about wing profiles etc. Man, so much to put up and so little space, time, and traffic allowed hehe. Hopefully I find space to put alot of this, maybe tekf1 will give a helping hand when they are finally operational, HURRY UP SCOTT WE MISS THE SITE!!!!
This nose was quickly modeled in Unigraphis NX by me, Keith Young. No specific tire size or location was used, nothing was researched or optimised in any way. I wanted to throw something at Paul and Russ to see what they can do and I am pretty pleased. What will be fun is taking this god awful car, and making little tweaks to it. The wing profile I threw together only really generates downforce at the front of the foil, the nose can use alot of tweaking, and there isnt even a simple endplate on there yet! It will be fun fixing up this car. Anyway thats enuff about this page, I have ALOT TO DO on the site still, just back from USGP!! Cheers all.
