I have been riding and showing for the past 8 years. I currently have a barn available for monthly training in Orrville, or private training at your own home. I do not have a time or horse limitation, I charge per hour + travel. Prices reflect the specific training being performed.
I train young horses to saddle and halter, retraining older or problem horses and do finishing work for showing. If you are just looking for touch-up work on a horse you want to sell or if you have been laid up by injury, or exercise and showing riding I am available for appointments. I do give riding lessons but they are on your horse at your own farm, all of my training sessions with your horse will also be used to teach you how to work with the horse on your own. I can answer tack questions as well as training techniques, and give you exercises to work on until our next scheduled appointment. As I train I explain what and why I am doing each step and will try to bring in the owner for hands on teaching so that they understand what to do and not to do when working on their own. This is a great opportunity for someone who does not want to send a horse to a trainer or want experience working with their horse themselves in the comfort of their own barn.
I have my own tack and equipment or if your horse has special tack yours will be used. If you have any tack questions Please Ask!
Along with training I also do sales and show prep, this a opportunity to get the optimal price out of the horse you are selling. A professional presentation and turnout for potential buyers increases the value of the animal, and shows the horse to the best of its ability. Showing a horse in a show increases visivality and price to a horse, allowing more people access to viewing as well as catering to buyers on the market for a horse to show. If you happen to be the one looking to buy a horse I can accompany you to evaluate the prospects conformation, attitude and training and how compatable it is for your needs.
I have successfully shown in English diciplines such as equitation and HUS events as well as over fences and saddleseat. Western Disiplines include pleasure, horsemanship, speed events and endurance/competitive trail riding. I have a lot of experience with trail desensitizing and road work the basic training for a good trail horse.
I interned for western pleasure/trail trainer Terry Myers, and rode under the instruction of OSU professor and hunter rider Dr. Karen Wimbush for 3 years.
