The Baron Kliff von Schloss BH, SchH 1, CS, CI, CX
02-26-2004 Baron is gone.  He was put to rest after loosing the fight against two forms of Cancer. Lymphoma and Osteosarcoma.  We miss him terribly.  Baron was 9 years old.  Godspeed Buddy....
Baron has been a wonderful PR dog for the Rottweiler.  He's made the newspaper twice (in a GOOD way!) and has been a pretty good buddy as well.   Baron is our oldest dog. He will be 9 years old in February of 2004.  He is starting to age as you will see by the greying of his muzzle in the pictures as they go.   I haven't met a person yet introduced to Baron who didn't think Baron is one of the neatest dogs around.
Baron at 2 years old standing in the snow in Tahoe.
Baron, always the comedian, trying to "kennel up" into the Pomeranians crate.  Thanks for helping him out Gene and holding the crate steady.  Boys!!! <sigh>
Halloween 1999. Baron makes his transvestite street walker debut! Complete with miniskirt, long dark hair, skimpy top and bright makeup job. In 1998, Baron played a Skunk for "trick or treat"
Baron is a "talker" the more you touch him or talk to him the louder he gets.  The only one he doesn't growl at is me.  Maybe because I growl back?

People who know him love introducing new people to him because of this lovely habit of his. It scares the bejezzers out of them!  Some people have a pretty warped idea of what they should subject their friends too <G>
The funny thing is this very same thing is what makes people think Baron is the neatest dog in the world!  Go figure!

Baron and friend Kira having a blast in the snow. You would almost think this was serious <G>
Baron attended the 2000 ARC National Specialty in Petaluma, CA.  It was the first time Carting was offered as a class at ARC.   I went ahead and entered Baron in the CS (Carting Started) class though we didn't even own a cart.  I figured what the hey <G>
We borrowed a cart at a dog show twice before ARC for about 10 minutes each time.  That was his entire carting time before the National. We ordered a cart but it wouldn't be ready until the National and it would be delivered at the national.  Not much help for training BEFORE the national LOL

ARC came, we went and my boy preformed like he had been doing it for years!

At the end of the test, we waited to find out if we qualified or not.  As number after number was called out and still, no mention of Baron and I's number, I began to panic.  Desperately trying to think back on what we did to keep us from qualifying.

As they got into placements, I was convinced that we didn't qualify for whatever reason. 4th was called, 3rd, 2nd, then, there it was!  They called our number for 1st place!   I was in such a state of shock over it I almost wasn't able to go up and collect our prizes <G>
Baron had just pulled off winning the largest carting entry at the National with a class of 24.  And he did it with
TWO training session's!

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks??
Baron winning the ARC 2000 National Specialty CS Class over an entry of 24!   Thank you judge Paula Cingota for everything!
Yep, that's right, I'm a Reindeer.
Gotta problem with that?
Guess which ones Rudolph ;-)
Baron has been our puppy raiser. He is starting to get a bit more easily annoyed as he gets older. But hey, so have I!! <G>  I watch as he grows older everyday and wish somehow I could make time stop so that he doesn't age anymore.  I have watched as the grey around his muzzle spread through his chin and is now making it's way toward the bridge of his nose.  I hope and pray that he has a couple years left in him.

I see ad's in the paper or on internet message boards with people trying to get rid of their 7, 8, 9 + year old dogs, look at him, and wonder HOW they can possibly do that?

I would gladly have taken their unwanted old dog years and put them on Baron, Devon and on.   This is something I will never understand. There are reasons sometimes that you may have to place a veteran dog.  I understand that. What I don't understand is how people can do it for nothing more than because the dogs age and the things that come along with age are inconvienient for them or disgust them in some way.  In those cases, in many instances it would be kinder to help your old friend across the bridge.  To be there while he drifts away so that he doesn't leave here being held by strangers or subjected to being uprooted from the only place he's ever lived and cast aside much like the weeks trash..

You owe a dog that much.  Especially after they have devoted their entire life to you. They have forgiven your every mistake like noone else will.  You owe them this much.
Finally, after the hundredth time trying to explain to Cachet that the bone is HIS!................
Baron's Pedigree
Baron is not available for Stud
Baron also serves as my service dog and accompanies me to work most days.
Ayla and Raider will slowly be taking over that position as they get older, and Baron does too :-(

Baron is no show dog in the conformation dog sense of the word, but he is one hell of a dog and has made many, many friends!

Baron is forced to use drastic measures and removes her head ;-)
