Taking a seat on the couch closest to me, I listened in to the phone call. "..no man, that's okay, "Fieldy replied to the other person on the end of the phone line. "..yeah that's a perfect time for us all, but how much for the night's gig?...wicked, wicked...okay, thanks for this... bye.."
After Fieldy hangs up the phone, he looks around the room. "The reception guy said that we can have our gig at 7pm tomorrow night," Fieldy says as he looks at everyone with a grin. Head stands up and laughs, "This calls for a celebration". I nodded in agreement and then looked down to the direction of hallway, hearing the faint sound of the shower water being turned off. Looking back to the guys walk into the kitchen for some cans of beer, I stood up to tell Veruca the good news.
Reaching the door, I knock twice onto it and wait. "I wont be a minute!" Veruca yelled. "It's only me Veruca, no need to rush," I said with a smirk. Moments later, she opened the door. "Hey," I pleasantly said. She just giggled first and tilted her head. "You're a happy one at the moment, what's happen?" she asked as she moved closer to me, wrapping her arms around my waist.
"Fieldy just booked us a gig at the club called the 'Blackout'," I replied with a smile. With that, she leaned in and hugged me. "Oh my god Jonathan. I'm so happy for you," she whispered into my ear. Leaning back and looking at her, I saw that smile, the one that made me feel like continuing with my life. "Thanks Veruca, you have no idea how good it feels to hear you say that," I whispered back, looking into her eyes. I kissed her softly on the cheek as she giggled.
Moving back, I asked, "What? What is it?" Her eyes where looking over my shoulder, so I turned around to look in the same direction. It was Head and Fieldy. "Sorry to interupt there, but we're in the celebrating mood too," Fieldy explained. I smirked to myself as I watched Head playfully pucker up his lips and then Fieldy slap him. Looking over to Veruca, I watched her laugh her heart out. Shaking my head, I walked back into the lounge room, with everyone else following. Taking a seat, I looked up at the ceiling. David must have been watching me. "Jonathan? You nervous or something?"
Moving my eyes away from the roof and towards the direction David was in, I lightly smiled. "Yeah, I am," I replied. He nodded, feeling the same way. I then moved my eyes over to Fieldy and Veruca talking about what I heard to be their favourite songs. Munky sat next to me as he saw me watching the pair and said "Jon? You've got nothing to worry about. She's you gurl and Reggie knows that". I turned my head to look at him and nodded.
Munky looked down at his hands, remembering the reason he sat next to Jonathan in the first place. "Oh, shit. Here, I got ya a beer. To celebrate the good news," he said as he handed me the can. Taking it with a smile, I thanked him and opened it, taking a sip. Drinking seemed to be my way to dull my mind, something I needed as I looked back over to Reggie and Veruca.
PART FIVE (Veruca's View) "So, yeah. Ozzy rocks. I reckon, an interview with him would have to be a highlight in my life," I told Fieldy as he sipped on his beer can. Wiping his mouth slowly as he finished his drink and crushing the can with both hands, he nodded with a smile. "That would be phatty phat for that to happen," he commented as he then looked around the room, resting his eyes on Jonathan. "Yo, Jon? You okay man?," He asked.
Jonathan looked slowly over to him and seemed to sigh before replying with a simple yes. That's when Jonathan glanced at me. Something was up. Standing up, I noticed I was the only one without a beer in my hand and that made me laugh. Smiling towards Jonathan, I walked over to him and sat beside him. Munky was on the other side of him. "I'll leave you two to talk," Munky said as he stood up. Not looking over at me, and paying more attention to Munky standing, Jonathan seemed upset. "Thanks," he then said before looking down in a quiet mood.
"Jon?" I asked. "Yeah?" he finally said and then looked at me with a faint smile. "What's wrong? I know you're thinking about tomorrow night and all, but I can see there's something else on your mind," I said and placed a hand on his lap. He seemed to be trying to avoid the conversation, fidgeting and looking around the room. "Do you have feelings for Reggie?" he asked me quietly so no one else could hear him but me. I was surprised and a bit hurt at the comment. Frowning, I stood up, still looking at him. "HOW CAN YOU THINK THAT? I'm just trying to get along with your friends. I like you Jonathan, but I don't think you trust me," I said and then ran to leave, grabbing my stuff out of Munky's room.
Jonathan's View Veruca ran down the hallway she had just came from moments ago. The guys looked at me in confussion as I stood up to chase after her.
