An Interview With Tony Of The
Richmond,VA Band, Municipal Waste
Levi RPP: Alright first off, who are you, and what do you do in Municipal Waste?
Tony Waste: Im Tony, I scream my ass off.

LR: Where did the name Municipal Waste come from, and what meaning does it have?
TW: Ryan saw it written on the side of a garbage truck up in D.C. The band was originally going to be called
"The Wrath of Severed Head".That shit still makes me laugh but Im glad we stuck with the Waste.

LR: I have noticed you seem to have an obsession with Kurt Russell, How far does this go? Do you own movies, posters, special hand autographed and worn underwear?
TW: I have a Kurt Russell back piece tattoo. Were also putting out a one sided 7" with an etching of Kurt on one side and the "Tango and Thrash" songs on the other. No bullshit, its gonna be tight.

LR: Have you ever met Kurt Russell?
TW: No. We were gonna stalk him the last time we went to L.A. but we didnt have enough time.

LR: After seeing The Waste numerous times myself I have noticed you yourself are usually quite inebriated, does this state of mind help you fully invoke the awesome thrash power of Kurt Russell?
TW: No, being drunk just kind of happens. When I do PCP is when the power of Kurt flows through my veins.

LR: Who would win a fight. Mad Max or Snake Plissken?...Soldier Or Snake? Jack Burton or Snake?
TW: Your mother.

LR: Alright enough Kurt Russell Questions. What influences your lyrics usually? I have noticed the new LP has some quasi-political songs.
TW: Lyrically were influenced by cool shit. We try to stray away from the typical bullshit most people sing about. I find it more interesting to sing about monsters and shit than sing about something I really dont give a crap about.

LR: What is your vision of a perfect Municipal Waste show?
TW: Hmmmm ok...It would have to be at a junkyard, lots of bloody chicks and we would make a shitload of money...yeah that would be good good shit.

LR: Who would you love to play with or tour with?
TW: I wish we could stay on tour with Caustic Christ for another 8 years. Seriously. We had the best time with those guys and I cant even imagine a better band to tour with. Im also looking forward to our upcoming winter
tour with Holier Than Thou and Annihilation Time those two bands fucking rule and I have a feeling that someone is going to die on that tour!

LR: How old were you when you got into Thrash/Punk and what bands got you
into it all?
TW: I saw D.R.I. when i was in 9th grade and it blew my fucking mind. Ever since that night I've had a boner for fast music.

LR: Are there any thoughts of releasing any new records in the near future
to feed our thrash addiction?
TW: We just got this tour out of the way and now were just focused on writing new songs. We have a few new ones and they sound pretty fucking rad. Were gonna take our time instead of rushing like we usually do, so hopefully our next release will fucking kill!

LR: Which Municipal Waste record is your favorite?
TW: I like the "Waste em All" cassette because it has those songs and the "Tango and Thrash" shit...and cassette's rule!

LR: Thanks for the interview, any closing words?
TW: You look like the guy on Camp Jim.
