| "Shrek 2" is a better movie than its Academy Award Winning predecessor from 2001. THe animated sequel is a triumph of storytelling, acting, and directing. The visuals would obviously be outstanding for an animated movie, so I won't go into them with detail. "Shrek 2" is the story after "Happily Ever After." Fiona and SHrek are happily married and come back after a hilarious honeymoon. That is when they get a request to come and visit the King and Queen (Fiona's parents; John Cleese & Julie Andrews) in the land of "Far, Far, Away." After an argument between Shrek and the King, Shrek decides on going hunting with the King to make it up to Fiona. He is tricked by the Fairy Godmother (Jennifer Saunders). At the end, they finally make everything the way it's supposed to be. Shrek and Fiona are together and we get a surprise from Donkey and Dragon after Donkey and Puss in Boots(Antonio Banderas) sing a musical number. The movie has only five minutes through it's hour and a half running time that your not laughing, and those are the scenes where it's all happy, and they tie loose-ends. The rest of the movie you'll laugh you're brains out. This is just plain a great movie that does the impossible...it beats the original. |
