THE GIFT OF ADMINISTRATION

Definition: the gift of organizing and leading people and/or things.
Character who illustrates this gift: Nehemiah.
Scriptural guidelines for administrators (organizers): Rom. 12:14; I Tim. 3:3-5; Prov. 16:32; I Cor. 14:40.
Characteristics:
1. Sees the big picture in all situations and sets proper goals. (See Neh. 1: 2-3)
2. Can put together organizations very quickly.
3. Is not easily side-tracked.
4. Communicates ideas very clearly.
5. Prefers to be under authority in order to have authority. (See Neh. 2:5).
6. Desires to be thorough and complete.
7. Knows what can and cannot be delegated to others. (See Neh. 4:13)
8. Hesitates to give a job to someone until that person proves himself.
9. Will not quit or be negative about a project.
10. Dislikes disorder.
11. Must have a current calendar.
12. Especially enjoys working on long-range goals and projects.
13. Is a visionary person with a broad perspective.
14. Is a person who easily coordinates resources and people to accomplish tasks or goals.
15. Enjoys supervising people.
16. Has a great zeal and enthusiasm for whatever he is involved in.
17. Constantly writes notes to self.
18. Enjoys working with and being around people.
19. Is very alert to details. (See Neh. 5:1-3)
20. Is able to be decisive.

Typical problem areas for the gift of administration (organization):
1. Uses delegation to avoid work.
2. Views or uses people as resources.
3. Fails to explain instructions or to praise fellow workers when the job is done.
4. Becomes upset when others do not share the same goals.
5. Tends to drive self and to neglect personal and family needs.
6. Neglects routine jobs at home because he hates them.
7. Is bluntly honest about likes and dislikes.
8. Criticizes people who tire quickly or easily.
9. Often appears bossy because he is always telling people what to do.
10. His perfectionism makes other people miserable.
