Homosexual parenting leads to gender identity disorders
Suggested to be one of the most significant problems with homosexual parenting is the lack of a same-sex role model to the young child (a male role model, for example, in a lesbian household). What exactly this lack of a same-sex role model does to child development is some what uncertain, but research contends the following: *Dr. Nicolosi found that men were alienated from their fathers and an increased need for male validation was shown in homosexual males (12) *According to Dr. Eugene Diamond, a professor of pediatrics at Loyola University Medical School, "The ability of a child to identify with parents of opposite sexes is crucial to his development, his recognition of his own sexuality, and this (gay adoption) would be utterly confusing" (20).
Conclusions
There is a significant amount of research that suggests that homosexual parenting may be detremental to the development of a child.
"The mom-and-dad family has long been recognized as the bedrock of civil society around the world...Children need and deserve the best environment possible in which to learn and grow. The traditional mom-and-dad family provides this, while homosexual relationships do not. Homosexual relationships are not the equivalent of marriage, and children should not be placed into homosexual households" (13).
