LOTS OF ANIMALS HANGING AROUND FRONTIER COUNTRY MUSEUM

Sherry Brown-Hicks has had a life-long love of animals.

Hicks captures animals all the time, and she does it without traps or nets or guns, relying, instead, on her eyes, handsand chalk.

Art has been her preferred method of preserving the animals she loves so much, having drawn and painted them ever since she was able to hold pencil, crayon or paintbrush.

The FRONTIER COUNTRY HISTORICAL MUSEUM is currently featuring a display of her award-winning artworks and will be hosting a
Meet and Greet the artist reception on Sunday, November 11th, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Hicks was introduced to pastel chalks in the ninth grade and primarily works in that medium today, with much of her pet portrait art being done by commission.

Pastels allow me to accurately portray the passion and understanding that I have for animals, Hicks enthuses, especially the individuality and characteristics of each animal I am commissioned to paint.

The Frontier Country Museum is located at 500 N. Grand, at the junction of S.H. 74 and 74-C, in Crescent.

For more information, phone the Museum at (405)-969-3660.
