| Oct - Nov, 2006 Presenting the Rotating Exhibit of Artist - Dale Orcutt Frontier Country Museum, Crescent, Oklahoma |
| The Art Exhibit of Dale Orcutt...
FOCUSES ON A BIT OF... EVERYTHING Acrylic paintings on canvas, painted cow skulls, painted wooden bowls, wooden snakes, digital photography, - even some painted furniture and a bit of leatherwork are components of the current featured exhibit at the FRONTIER COUNTRY HISTORICAL MUSEUM, in Crescent. The exhibit, entitled "WHY?", features works by Museum volunteer Dale Orcutt, of Indian Springs. "'Why?' is one of the first questions we ask, as a child," says Orcutt, "why do we create --why build or carve or write or draw or paint?" "Maybe, it is because we have a need -or a drive- to share what we see and experience in the world," Orcutt believes, stating that he draws most of his inspiration from "God's Creation." "I started doing the larger paintings as a means of coping with the trauma and turmoil following 9/11," he commented. As a volunteer, Orcutt put together two of the Museum's permanent exhibits --Hunting/Fishing and Communications-- as well as helping with publicity and photography. His works will be on display through October. A 'Meet & Greet' reception was held at the Museum, on Sunday, October 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. The FRONTIER COUNTRY MUSEUM is located at the intersection of S.H. 74 and 74-C, in Crescent, and is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday; 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, phone the Museum at 405-969-3660. Come by the Museum and view our Rotating Exhibits. The Artwork by Dale Orcutt is no longer on display.
