"Liz�what is going on? I haven't seen you all day, and your new friend�the one with the blond hair�she's looking for you too. What is it?"
"Nothing Alex, you wouldn't understand." She holds Alex's arms and shakes them slightly, looking directly into his eyes. "Have you seen Maria?"
"No�well, yes, I saw her before but she just disappeared before I got to her, as if she didn't want to see me. She isn't answering her cell phone either, just like you, Liz what is going on?" She lets go of his arms.
"I told you�nothing that concerns you. But if you see Maria, then get her to me quick, and don't listen to anything she says OK?"
"OK then, I guess." As Liz runs off from him, he stands, confused, not understanding what this is all about.
Isabel and Michael talk in an empty classroom that isn't being used.
"I'm not complainin' about Liz any more�somethin' happened last night�made me trust her�I did anyway but, it made me know I should."
"I know, it happened to me, all of us I think."
"But what now Iz? I mean the only thing we didn't want to happen because of Liz, is happenin' anyway�I don't know what that means or what we should do about it."
"I don't have all the answers Michael, nobody does. Just control yourself and act on instinct. I have faith in Liz. There's something about her, something that she knows that we don't, and I know somehow, that she'd do anything for us."
"It's weird but�me too. Where's Max anyway?"
"He's looking for Maria, we should be too Max, but remember, control yourself, we don't want to scare her any more than she already is." The two take off, to find Maria also.
At around the same time, Max has unexpectedly bumped in to Kyle, which doesn't prove to be a pleasant turn of events.
"There you are Evans. You know�I always knew you and that Guerrin punk were freaks�but I never thought Liz would do something like that, especially to her own best friend."
"Why Kyle, what exactly is it that we done? What did we do to hurt you?"
"I don't now how you put on that little light show, and I don't care. Why you'd wanna make up some twisted little story about being an alien I don't know. You guys are all sick. I don't know why it's gotten to Maria so much, but if anything happens to her, I'll kick your ass so hard�"
"Kyle, it's not�you haven't told anyone about us have you?"
"Why would I tell anybody about you freaks and your delusional little fantasies? So that everyone'll think I'm a weirdo too? I don't think so Evans."
"Where's Maria? I need to see her�"
"That's it, you've pushed me far enough. I'll see you after school Evans." The boys then left each other's company. Kyle very angry, and Max even more nervous than he was before.
Liz was feeling very desperate. She'd done everything to find her friend Maria, and was at this point, mostly worrying about her well-being. But what else was there to do? She'd been everywhere, spoken to everyone, tried everything�well, almost everything. Liz remembered that there was some sort of power inside her. Although she didn't know how to control it, she had nothing to lose by trying. All the hardship it has caused, it would have to be good for something.
Liz rested her back against a wall and closed her eyes. She focused on Maria in her mind, her face, her voice, her personality and her perfume. She could feel her nearby, as if she was looking at her from across a long room. She got closer and closer. Finally, she could see where Maria was. She couldn't explain it and she had no time to try at this point, and instead dashed off to the girls toilets near the sports field, where she saw Maria.
She entered the toilets.
"Hello�Maria are you here?" She heard some whimpering from the furthermost cubical. It was Maria.
"Oh my God Maria, are you OK? I'm so sorry for all of this�but I'm your friend and I love you and I'm here now�you know that right? I'm here for you."
"You're�with them�not here�I'm so�is any of this real?"
"Maria, of course it is real. I know what you saw is hard to accept but it happened. I wish you'd never seen it. I wanted to tell you myself but if this is how you'd have reacted then I'm glad I didn't." She realizes that Maria wouldn't have reacted like this, she knows her too well. "You know I'd never do anything to hurt you."
"Someone�else�can't see�don't see�in my�help."
"Maria, I'm going to take you home." As Liz touches Maria in order to get her to stand, so she can take her home, Maria begins to alternate between looking like herself and then Tess, in flashes. This troubles Liz somewhat, but doesn't stop her. "Come on let's get you home." She puts Maria's left arm around her shoulders and begins to walk her out.
