| Part 4 |
| Miranda walked through the wide door and entered her soon to be nightclub, and not just any nightclub, but the future nightclub that would literally beam this pitiful little town Roswell through the roof and put it on the map. The party map, that is if she could find the guy supposes to sell it to her. 'Ok, I have been here, for what, like 5 minutes now,' Miranda thought to herself and rolled her eyes. 'How rude'. She was getting more and more agitated for every second that passed by. Is it so hard to be on time? 'Patience is a virtue Miranda,' she practically could hear her mother's nagging. 'Well I'm not a very virtue persons, now am I mother?' The day was hot, and if there was something Miranda could depend on from now on, was that it would always be the hot New Mexico weather. Her hair was all sticky on the back of her neck and it was driving her crazy. All she wanted was to take a very long and very cold shower. "Oh I am so sorry," Miranda heard someone say, and she turned around to see whom. "Mr. Kingly?" Miranda asked not believing her own eyes. Right infront of her was a man standing. Usually she wouldn't freak seeing a man. She was partly raised on a military base and has seen all kinds of men, but this one topped them all. The man was practically bold and he was short. He wore glasseshis stomach was hanging over his belt and it totally grossed her out, not that she was a bigot, it's just that she was used to men who were in shape 24/7. This man looked like he never had even heard of a gym, never less spent time at one. "Mr. Kingly?" Miranda repeated with a disbelieving tone of voice, no one could mistake that. "Yea, that's me I presume that you are Miss. Harper," he said with a raised eyebrow. Miranda couldn't believe that this patethic excuse of a human actually owned this place. She had to bite her lip to stop herself from laughing. "Oh I am so sorry. Yes, I am Miranda Harper," she said and shook his hand. "You seem almost surprised to see me," Mr. Kingly said. 'Please. Am I suppose to apologize now, it's not my fault you look like a wimp,' she thought. Miranda began to feel very incompatible and impatient as she was, and she was also turning rude. 'You have to calm down,' she told her self over and over again. "Oh no, well I mean a little I guess, It's just that you don't strike me as a typical nightclub owner. I guess it's just Washington's way of thinking. Most of the club owners look like on of the guys from an action movie," she said trying to make a good impression. "Oh, well I guess that explains it," he said and laughed a bit. "I am not exactly Robert Dinero" "No, your hot," Miranda said, rolling her eyes at the mans poor attempt to make a joke. "Well," Miranda said as she clapped her hands to get the mans attention "If you wouldn't mind Mr. Kingly, I would like to see this place" "Oh yes, of course, I 'm sorry for being lateit's just" 'Oh no, I don't have time for this,' Miranda whined to herself. "My daughter turned 16 today, so we had a little party," he continued. Miranda's heart sunk to her feet. "Yea well, turning 16 is a big deal to every girl especially when it comes to her sweet 16 party," Miranda said a bit sad. "Exactly. Your birthday must have been special too," he asked with a cherry voice. 'Yea, it was special alright,' Miranda thought to herself. ****FLASHBACK**** "How about just love me?" Miranda yelled at her father. "Oh my god, is that what you think? That I don't love you, Miranda?" he said with a soft voice. "I love you, I always will. I mean god, why do you think I kept this to myself all this time? Because I wanted to protect YOU!" "Don't even try it dad," she warned. "Miranda please" her father started but she cut him of. "Oh really, is that why you never let me close to you? Is that why you let everyone else do our dirty work for you? Playing my father? Because god-forbid that you would actually show me how much you loved me? Or were you just scared that you would actually start loving me?" It was the truth, the horrible, horrible truth of it all, that they were now forced to face. It was the fact that her own father never really loved her. The only difference was that now she knew why, and it was because of her, of whom she is. "Miranda, Daniel!" Miranda heard her mother yell from the living room. "Would you two get in here it's time to cut the cake, honey!" It was Miranda's birthday, it hit her, she'd totally forgot about that. What a perfect 16th birthday present. "Miranda," he father said and brought her back from her thoughts. "How could you ever think" She pulled herself away from his grip. "NO, spear me the lies dad," she growled. She couldn't stay here; she had to get away from him, NOW. "You know what, I'll make it easy for you. After this party you won't have to look at your freak daughter anymore dad, cause I'm out of here" "What do you mean?" he father asked. "I'm leaving, so that you and mom can have the life you want. You've made it more then clear that you don't want me here," The admiral took a step back. "Fine, if that's what you wantI guess there's nothing I can do to stop you," he said and walked out of the study. Miranda's heart broke at his words. 'I guess he really doesn't care,' she thought. "Dad" she called after him. There was no chance in hell that she would let him have the last word. "Thanks for the birthday present, I'll never forget it" ****END OF FLASHBACK**** Miranda shook the thought out of her head. "Mr. Kingly, I don't mean to be rude, but I'm really running out of time here. I have to go over to the school and get registered, and I have at least 100 other things to do, so" She tried to get through to the man, but mostly Miranda tried to block the memories of her 16th birthday. 'Focus Miranda or I'll kick your ass. You don't have time for this,' she told herself. "Oh yes, I'm sorry. Let's get this over with shall we," he said. "Please let's," Miranda answered. They waited a few minutes for Jesse to show up, and then they started the tour once he did. They were still standing in front of the hall. "Ok, now as you can see this place is quite big. On your left you have the girls bathroom and on your right the boys." Miranda looked on each side of her as she passed the bathrooms. Each side of her was long balconies with tables, giving the guest an overlook at the dance floor that was just down the stairs infront of her. At the end of the dance floor was a stage. The bar was on her left, right under one of the balconies. On her right was another stairwell that led up to the head office that had a bid glass window with no-see through glass overlooking the entire club. When they reached the office and stepped inside, Miranda's head started pumping out ideas on how to decorate it. The room was oval and had of course the big window, but it was also a bathroom and another door leading to the upstairs apartment. Miranda was stunned. This place was SO perfect. "Could I see the apartment?" she asked satisfied with herself for finding this place. "Yes, of course," Mr. Kingly said and just then his mobile started to ring. He pulled out his cell phone and answered. "Oh, hi honey, wait just one minute," he said into the phone and then turned to Miranda. "Go and check out the apartment. I think this might take a while," he said and threw her the keys. Miranda unlocked the door and then walked up the stairs with Jessie right behind her. She opened the front door and entered a large room. The kitchen was on the right side next to the main entrance. A stairway leading to the next floor was right next to the kitchen and under the stairs was the bathroom door. On the other side of the room was a bedroom. 'Large enough,' she thought. There was also a large loft window with quite a view. She walked around and examined the room before heading up the stairs to the next floor. This floor looked kind of the same as the bottom floor; only it had two bedrooms, a bathroom and a huge livingroom. 'Oh man, talk about decorating project,' she thought to herself. "Pure heaven," Miranda said out loud. "I'm guessing we can sign the contract," she heard Mr. Kingly's voice say behind her. She turned around to look at him and smiled. ******** Miranda and Jessie followed Mr. Kingly out of the club. "All yours now," Mr. Kingly said and gave Miranda the keys. "Thank you very much Mr. Kingly," Miranda said and smiled "This place is right up my ally," she told him. The old man smiled back "Well I'm glad that you think so and I'm sure you'll enjoy it," he said and shook her hand. "Oh I will," Miranda said and watched him leave. "Ok, now that the paperwork is all done, your free to party," Jessie said and smiled. Miranda turned around and looked at him. "Oh no, not quite yet, Jessie. I still have to get registered at the school and then I have to fix this place up, not to mention it, open it and get it running," she said and rolled her eyes. "And all the paperwork, oh my god, somebody just shoot me," she whined. Jessie just laughed and said. "Well look on the bright side" "Which is?" Miranda asked. "That you have a home now and no matter what you do or where you go, you'll know that you have a place called home," Jessie answered. "I guess your right," Miranda said and smiled. "We better get going, come on, I'll buy you lunch," Jessie offered. "You know what, I think I'm going to stay here for a while, but I'll call you for a raincheck on the lunch," she answered. "Deal," Jessie said, "Besides we still have that allowance thing to settle" "Don't remind me," Miranda said bored. "Ok, I better be going now but you have fun now, you hear," Jessie teased. "I sure will, and Jessie," Miranda started. "Yea?" he asked. "Thank you for everything, I mean--," Miranda said but was interrupted by Jessie saying: "Hey, don't worry, besides you won't be thanking me when I send you the bill," he joked as he opened his car door. "Goodbye Jessie," Miranda said and laughed. "Bye," Jessie said and drove off. ********* Miranda closed the door behind her and walked down the stairs, till she was at the center of the dance floor. Miranda was feeling relived, sure there was a billion things to do, but she had finally bought this club. It was all hers. She looked around the place and said: "I guess this is it" TBC |
