| What a sight A small room, a bed and a girl laying on it. The window is open and soft breezes are entering the room. There is a light scent of vanilla and lemon in the room. Miranda is lying on her stomach with one arm draped across her face. The sun had risen a long time ago and a couple rays of sun had found their way into the room and right in her face. Her face has peaceful look on it, as if she didn't have a care in the worlda soft moan escapes her lips as she starts to wake up. 'Morning already,' she thought as she stretched her body. Miranda slowly opened her eyes. "Nice ceiling," she said. Shes lying there on the bed for quite some time, trying to remember the latest dream. "What was it about?" she asked herself. It couldn't have been bad, because then she would have woken up screaming but she hadn't. Instead she felt completely in peace for the first time in a very long time. Too bad that didn't last for long cause it went out the window when she began to think about all the things she had to do today. "Oh man why me?" she exclaimed as she got out of bed and into the bathroom in a dozed off state of mind. When she finished getting dressed, Miranda took a quick glance at herself in the mirror. She was wearing a tight black skirt that ended at her mid-thighs, a blue tub-top and a black shirt. Her wavy long hair was up in a low ponytail. To top it all off, she wore her black highheels. "Damn I look good," she said, "Classic," and then she took her purse, all her papers and left the room. ************** "Now, let's see," she said, walking along the street. "First stop The Evans lawoffice. After that, contract signingand then" her mind stopped as a stranger ran into her and made her drop all her papers. "Hey watch it!" "Oh, I am so sorry," the man said and started helping her pick up her fallen papers. "Yeah, well you should be," she snapped at him as she rose from the ground with her papers in her hand. "I really am sorry, I was in a hurry and I just didn't see you," the man explained. Miranda finally looked at the tall guy in front of her. "Why the hurry? Have the aliens attacked?" she asked him. "No, I'm just late for a meeting with my new client," he said. Miranda couldn't hold back a smile. "Well I hope your client is a patient one Mr.?" "Ramirez, Jessie Ramirez," he said and shook her hand. "You wouldn't by any chance be Jessie Ramirez, the lawyer now would you?" "Yes, I amwhy?" Jessie asked. "Well, cause now I can certainly know if your gonna get fired or not". "What's that?" he asked. "Cause your client is also running late herself so I guess we are even". "Your M. Harper?" Jessie asked with an astonished look on his face. "You've got a problem with that?" she snapped back. Jesse's eyes grew wide in shock and then said: "No, it's just thought that you were." "A man," she finished for him. "Yes," Jessie answered. "That's ok, at least now we don't have to wait around for each other," Miranda said and smiled. "Yeah well, let's go to the office now shall we?" he said and walked towards the building with Miranda beside him. *************** "Well I guess that sums it up," Jessie said as he put all the papers in a neat file on his desk. He and Miranda had just gone over the legal papers for her new life. "YES! Thank god!" Miranda said as she finished signing papers. "I thought we would never finish, not that it wasn't fun! Miranda then said, apologizing when she saw his face after her first statement. "No, no, that's ok, I understand" The office was comfortable, it's just that Miranda never really was the indoor type; if it had been up to her she would have had this meeting during lunch or something. Miranda got out of her chair to stretch her legs. "I'm kinda surprised that you can handle yourself the way you do," Jessie confessed. "What do you mean?" Miranda asked. "Don't take me wrong, it's just that it's not every day that I meet an 18 year old millionaire". "Oh thatwell yeah, I see your point but I grew up with and around money soyou could say it's in my bloodold money," those last words Miranda said in the most sarcastic tone of voice ever. "When you say that it sounds like it is a curse". "Let's just say that money isn't always the answer to everything". "Right," Jessie said but couldn't help to wonder why? "Well I got to run but well meet again later this afternoon," Miranda said after had been looking at her watch. "Yea. It was nice meeting you and I can assure you that you don't have to worry about a thing, now that you are legal you can just relax". "Thank you, I do feel a little bit better," she said and shook his hand. When she reached to get her purse, she accidentally knocked over a picture on Jesse's desk. When she picked it up she notes that it was a beautiful girl on it. "Girlfriend?" she asked. "No, my wife," Jessie answered and smiled proudly. "Really?!" Miranda said surprised. He looked a bit young to be married. "Yes, really. Miranda took a good look at the picture and for a second the girl seemed somehow so familiar. "What's her name?" she asked Jessie. "Isabel." "She's beautiful," Miranda commented. "Thank you," Jessie said and smiled. "One thing is certain though," she said. "What's that?" Jessie asked as he took the picture out of Miranda's hand and put it back on the desk. "She must be pretty special to keep a guy like you," Miranda said and walked towards the door. 'Yea, she is special alright,' Jessie thought to himself. "So, Ill see you at 4 outside the club," Miranda said. "Yea, Ill see you then," Jessie said. "Bye," Miranda said and walked out of the office and into the sun. TBC |
