Maria is still freaking out about Michael, Max and Isabel being aliens and this grows when Isabel taunts her using her powers. Maria panicks and becomes so nervous she run's her car into the back of Valenti's. Liz tells her to calm down and that it's imorportant that they stay in control.
Isabel goes to Max, and says that she doesn't trust Maria to keep their secret. Max says he trusts Liz and that she will make sure Maria doesn't say anything.
One of Isabel's powers is that she can 'dreamwalk' (that is, enter other people's dreams) and decides to enter one of Maria's to find out what she's thinking. This leads to the worrying discovery that Maria wants to go to Sheriff Valenti and tell him everything.
Maria becomes even more nervous when Valenti approaches her and asks her to come to his office later on and discuss the accident. Liz urges her again to stay in control, but Maria doesn't think that she can and can't make any promises. Maria discovers that Liz is also scared.
On her way to Valenti's office, Maria sees Isabel and her mother Diane Evans sharing a tender moment and realises that maybe they aren't all that different from herself after all. When Maria goes to Valenti's office, she starts to get nervous again, but when he tells her that he 'doesn't want any more families destroyed', Maria remembers Isabel with her mother and seccessfully 'stonewalls' Valenti.
In order to find out all that he can about the UFO crash, Max gets a job at the local UFO museum with curator Milton Ross.
