Maria DeLuca is Liz's weird 'n' wacky best friend. She's into things like aromatherapy and her fave calming scent is cedar oil. She began singing in her other best friend Alex's band.
She lives with her mother, Amy (her father abandoned them at an early age which is why she has such a close bond to her).
Maria also has a cousin, Sean, who went to jail but has been released.
She has a complex relationship with Michael (a sort of on-again, off-again thing), and though she wants to be with him, she gets the feeling sometimes that he's not doing enough to keep their relationship going.
She works with Liz as a waitress at The Crashdown restaurant (which is owned by Liz's father)
She was apprehensive towards the aliens at first, but especially since her thing with Michael, she's become almost as devoted to them as Liz has.
Recently she has found she needs to have more 'normal-ness' in her life, and has tried to gain this by reverting back to one of her first loves - music. After being offered a record deal, she packed up and moved to New York to pursue a career in music, only to find they wanted to change her slow, deep n' meaningful ballads to bouncy pop/dance tunes. She decided she would rather forego the whole thing if it meant her music lost its original meaning and left New York. |
