Liz was always the rationalist. She always had to find the logical explanation for everything. That was until she found out Max Evans' secret. One day as she was working her usual job as a waitress with her best friend Maria in her father's restaurant The Crashdown, a fight broke out between two customers in one of the booths, a gun was set off, and Liz was shot. Close to her death, the mysterious Max Evans somehow healed her - leading to a conversation in which he revealed to her that he, Michael and Isabel were aliens. She now had to keep his secret.
Ever since Max made the connection with her to heal her gunshot wound, Liz and Max have shared a special bond. He trusts her, and though he wants to be with her, feels that every moment spent with her is another moment that her life is in danger. Liz started off her sophomore year dating the Sheriff's son - Kyle Valenti, but the person she really wanted to be with was Max.
However, they decided the risk would be worth the trouble. Though this is kinda hard when the first and only person you've ever loved is destined to be with someone else. The complications began when Tess Harding came onto the scene. In their past life, Tess and Max had been married, so in this life, they were also destined to be together.
