Why Rostrum?
The founders of the Rostrum Party felt the absence of a truly representative Student Youth Political Party very keenly. In response to this need the Rostrum Party UK was thus born.

The Party aims to represent the student youth community as whole, its recognition as a potent political force, and as a lobbying point for some main refoms to education. We are independent of University, region, institution or any other body. As such we are hugely under-funded and therefore have to ask for membership fees, however there is a free tariff of
membership.
The word.
The word 'Rostrum' in the OED means:

rostrum: n. a platform for public speaking.
Also
Zoo. a stiff beak.
Rom Antiquity: beak of a war galley.

Orig. In Roman Forum speaking platform adorned with beaks of captured Galleys.

It is the intention of the Party to be the platform on which the Student Youth community stands upon to make its voice heard. Therefore the name was chosen and has being used since.
