Please retract the following statement often printed in your literature:

"The avoidance of sugar takes veganism into what must seem to outsiders as the realm of the absurd."

Since sugar causes diabetes (leading cause of death in the US) and is, chemically speaking, not a food, but a poison, I would hardly call avoiding it (for whatever reason) absurd. I care about the health of my fellow vegans and would strongly recommend they read the health classic "Sugar Blues" by William Dufty. Just one more reason to be a strict vegan and stick to our principles.

I would also highly recommend substituting maple syrup for sugar in your recipes. Let's stay healthy.
