Paul Schliesmann is right. Cycling in Kingston should be fully respected and absolutely promoted as much as possible. Cyclists respect the environment, burn no polluting fossil fuels, cause infinitely fewer and less severe accidents, take up less space, expel no exhaust, and set an example for people showing them that this safe and healthy physical activity is a fun, as well as practical, way to travel. (It's also fast, often faster than driving and definitely faster than taking the bus.)
There is a feeling of freedom when on a bicycle that no driver can know. A clean, efficient and responsible way to travel, cycling will become more and more popular as our society becomes more educated about the serious importance of protecting the environment from further destruction.
The city needs more bicycle lanes, now. Not only bicycle lanes but scenic paths away from motorized traffic. "Bike Lane Action" is an organization dedicated to the creation of wide and clearly marked bike lanes on the roads but also the creation of paths that are completely "car free".

Let's work hard to give Kingston's cycling heroes what they deserve - safe and smooth pathways lined with trees and fresh air for their blessed lungs. They truly are heroes and they deserve it.
