Hi, we have spent the last 8 days doing our best to cover as much of Sydney as possible.  We have toured the Opera House, the Zoo, the Aquarium, the Olympic center, Climbed 203 steps up to the top of the Pylons on the Harbor Bridge, Taken dozens of ferries, and gone on several tours......it is a marvelous and very friendly city. Tomorrow morning we hop a train for an 11 hour trip to Melbourne, winding thru the blue mountains and along the coast.  Wish we could share it all with all of you.
Just to let you know the Opera House roof is comprised of tiles that are off white and they change color with the skies. The Zoo is wonderful and full of many exotic animals. The aquarium has tunnels to walk thru with the fish swimming over and under you.  The Manta rays were especially interesting.  We got to see them and sharks being fed....a great experience.  The ferry system is wonderful, we took ferries or buses everywhere.  (driving here would be a nightmare).  More next week from Melbourne.

Greetings from Melbourne...tomorrow night we head to Tasmania aboard an overnight Ferry.  Our adventures here found us in magnificent rain forests full of tree-ferns, taller than we are. Considering they grow only 2 cm a year they are pretty old. There are also many varieties of eucalyptus (gum trees).  We had a chance to feed kangaroos, wallabies, emus, wombats, and get up close and personal with many other animals including the Koalas.  After a steam train ride we spent the evening on a beach watching the fairy penguins do their nightly migration out of the ocean and up the beach.  Easter weekend we toured the Great Ocean Road full of soaring cliffs and rock formations along the coast.  We found a cute little church in Port Campbell, the Easter service was put on by the children...including the angel who couldn't get her wings thru the door and the Guard that whapped her sword into the speakers face.  I am sure God had a great laugh with us and loved the spirit with which it was carried out.  Rounding out our visit here we took a river cruise, toured the Australian open site, the cricket grounds, the Victorian Market dating back to the 1800s and their wonderful zoo.  We've met some very interesting people and everyone is soooo nice, and all try to be helpful.  Hope this finds you all well.  Vance and Pat
