We're at the beginning of the 5th season and since Ross said the right name at the altar, he's now married to Emily. She moves to NY and lives together with Ross in his (the old one) apartment.  Ross works as a teacher at the NYU and Emily as a fashion designer. Monica and Rachel still live together and so does Joey and Chandler. This fanfic is about Rachel, Ross and Emily.

Plot: Ross and Emily are married but have lots of problems. They often fight and never share the same opinion. Ross gets more and more depressed, frustrated and feels lonely and Rachel notices that and tries to help him. They often meet and Ross tells her everything, and with every talk they become a little bit closer.....Read along!

Scene: Central Perk. Everyone's there except for Emily.

Ross: I can't believe I'm actually married. (has a big smile on his face)

FLASHBACK: London. We're in the church in front of the altar.

Priest: Now repeat after me: I Emily

Emily: I Emily

Priest: Take thee, Ross

Emily: Take thee, Ross

Priest: As my .....

Emily: As my ......

Priest: Now repeat after me: I Ross

End of Flashback.

Chandler: So when's she coming?

Ross: Tomorrow (smiles again)

Joey: Does she already know what she wants to do here, jobwise?

Ross: Since she's a fashion designer, she might do something with fashion.

Rachel: (surprised) she's a designer?

Ross: Yup.

Monica: So Ross, you two are gonna live in your apartment?

Ross: Yes, I don't want to move out. I love it there. And by the way, there's enough place for two people, so I guess it will be no problem.

Scene fades out.
 

Scene: Airport. Emily comes out of the corridor and we see Ross standing there with a bunch of red roses. She runs to him and they kiss deeply. Then they break it and smile lovingly at each other.

Ross: let me get your luggage.

Emily: Thanks honey.

Ross: How was your flight?

Emily: It was okay but I'm really tired.

Ross: What about me cooking a nice dinner for us? (smiles hopefully at her)

Emily: (looks very tired) Sorry but I just want to go home and have some sleep. (Ross is a bit disappointed but hides it)

Scene fades out.
 

Scene: Two weeks later. Emily settled down in Ross' apartment and she already found an agency which lets her work as a fashion designer. We're in R&E's apartment.

Emily: (entering the apartment) Guess what? They took me! (she runs to Ross, who by the way is cooking something, and hugs him)

Ross: wow that's great.

Emily: yeah it is. (she breaks the hug and kisses him quickly) And you know what the best part is? They let me work for 6 days a week! (smiles brightly)

Ross: (surprised) 6 days? wow that's hard.

Emily: What? No it's not. It's just great! I love this job, I would work 7 days a week if I could.

Ross: Then we wouldn't have a day for us!

Emily: Do you think this is important? Do we need that? I mean we live together and we see us all the time.

Ross: (disappointed) okay then.

Emily: No Ross, do you think we need that?

Ross: I just think that it would be nice if we have one day a week for us, ya know.

Emily: Honey, that's so sweet. But I said I work  6 days a week, which means I actually have one day off. (smiles at him)

Ross: (in a sexy voice) That means every Sunday we have the whole day for us? (kisses her but she doesn't kiss back)

Emily: No, I have to work on sundays. Every Tuesday!

Ross: (makes a step back) work on Sunday?

Emily: yeah I know, but we need Sundays for the presentations and fashion shows. (Ross is by now a bit upsed but the calms down and takes her hand)

Ross: It's just, that I've to work on Tuesday...

Emily: I'm sorry (gets closer to him)

Ross: I guess then we have to enjoy the time that is left till you start. When do you start?

Emily: (all excited) Tomorrow! (again smiles brightly) Isn't that great? I'm so excited! (she hugs him and we see him looking very unhappy)

Scene fades out
 

Scene: A week later. R&E's. Ross's sitting alone on the couch watching TV. He looks at his watch that shows 9:30 pm. Then we hear keys unlocking the door and Emily slowly walks in.

Emily: hi sweetie

Ross: ( a bit angry) Where have you been?

Emily: (rolls her eyes, also a bit angry) Oh not agian! I had to work and you know that.

Ross: It's 9:30!

Emily: So what!?

Ross sighs, trying not to start yelling. He just looks at the TV and pretends to watch.

Emily: Honey, where's dinner?

Ross looks at her in disbelief.

Ross: Sorry but I had to work myself.

He gets up, takes his coat and his keys and rushes out. Emily keeps looking at him and rolls her eyes again.

Scene fades out
 

Scene: M&R's. Ross knocks at the door and steps in but doesn't see anybody.

Ross: Mon? Rach? Someone here?

Just then Rachel enters, looking very tired. She carries paperstuff and throws it all on the table.

Rachel: hey Ross. What are you doing here? Monica's out if you're looking for her.

Ross: Nothing. Where have you been?

Rachel: I had to work till now. Can you believe this?

Ross: (stares at her) You have to work till 9:30?

Rachel: Yeah but just today. Argh I hate that.

Ross laughs a bit and Rachel just glares at him.

Rachel: What? What's so funny.

Ross: I'm happy to hear that. (he sits on the couch)

Rachel: hear what?

Ross: that you hate it, when you have to work so long.

Rachel: why?

Ross: Uh, Emily and I had a fightabout that.

Rachel: oh. You wanna glass of wine?

Ross: (turns the head to face her) yeah, that would be great.

Rachel poursthem two glasses of wine, takes them and sits beside Ross. He takes one out of her hands and smiles at her.

Ross: thanks

Rachel: okay, now tell me. What was your fight about?

Ross: her job,... again about her job.(he stares at the floor while Rachel looks at him)

Rachel: okay then, I think I might be the wrong person here, 'cause you remember, our quarrels  were also mostly about my job and because of Mark.

Ross: (sighs, still staring at the floor) (softly) I hated it when I barely saw you 'cause you had to work longer. And now, I'm at the same point with Emily.

Rachel: Ross (he interrupts her)

Ross: but it's a bit different with Emily. She acts like I'm her "houseman". I have to do everything by myself. Everything! She also wants me to make dinner for her every evening so when she comes home, she can sit at the table and start eating. (now looking at Rachel) I've got a job, too, and also do love it.

Rachel lays her hand on his shoulder, softly rubbing it.

Rachel: Ross, give her time. She's here now for 3 weeks. A new city, new people around, her, new apartment, new job....new life. -pause- it's not easy for her.

Ross: Well, it's not easy for me either. (they both starein each others eyes)

Rachel: You should talk to her.

Ross: (he looks back at the spot on the floor) She won't understand.

Rachel: hey Ross (lifts his chin up with her hand and smiles at him) what's the matter with you. What is so bad at the whole situation?

Ross: I miss her, I barely see her and everytime we see us, we fight. I want to be with her, I mean going somewhere, have dinner, spending a whole day together, you know...

Rachel: (looks sweetly at him) you're just the sweetest, greates and most caring man I've ever seen. (he smiles at her) One day, Emily will see what she has in you and everything will be okay. It's a matter of time, believe me.

Ross: you think?

Rachel: Absolutely!

Ross: Ah Rach, you're great, thank you so much.

He kisses her on the cheek then gets up and leaves, while Rachel still sits on the couch and looks down. Then she turns her head to watch Ross leaving.

Scene fades out
 

A week later. Central Perk. Ross and Rachel are sitting on the couch, drinking coffee.

Ross:......and we got into another fight - pause- god, I'm so tired of having this all the time.

Rachel: What did she say?

Ross: She thinks I don't want her to be happy, which is so not true. I want her to be happy...She also yelled at me, saying me how selfish I am by not letting her doing a job that  she loves.

Rachel: I'm sorry, I didn't  know it was that bad. What are you gonna do now?

Ross: (sighs) God knows, I've no idea..

Rachel: What about if you two go on holidays? Relax a bit and everything.

Ross: (happy) yeah, that's a great idea. Thanks Rach (gets her hand) Hey, what about you? Any news? How's it going with Josh?

Rachel: (confused) Josh? (realizing) oh Josh, yeah, we broke up.

Ross: (surprised) What? When?

Rachel: A few days before your wedding.

Ross: oh....and why?

Rachel: he didn't wanted to marry me.

Ross: (shocked) what?

Rachel: (fake laugh) Hey, just a joke.

Ross:...I hate this kind of jokes! (smiles) But seriously, why?

Rachel: because I didn't love him, that's all. I don't want to talk about it.

Ross: okay then (they smile at each other)

Scene fades out
 

Two days later: M&R's. Everyone's there except for Emily. Joey and Ross are sitting on the couch and Chandler on the seat while the girls are sitting at the table.

Phoebe: Ross, where's Emily?

Ross: (as he doesn't care) work

Joey: It's sunday!

Ross: (sees that everyone looks at him) so what?

Chandler: How's it going between you two?

Ross: Good, really good. (Rachel looks at him, knowing that he's lying. She feels sorry for him and changes the subject of the discussion)

Rachel: Don't you think it's a long time since we last went to the movies?

Phoebe: Yeah, truth. Oh and Moulin Rouge is on tonight. (note: I know, it's a long time ago but I just love this movie so much)

Monica: Aw, I want to see Moulin Rouge!

Joey: Then why are we still here? C'mon let's go!

Chandler: sounds good

Phoebe: yeah great, Ross?

Ross: I'm not in the mood.

Monica: C'mon Ross!

Ross: (annoyed) I said 'not in the mood' which means I'm not going, okay.

Chandler: Allright then, let's go.

They all pick up their coats and start to leave when Rachel suddenly makes a face.

Rachel: Oh sorry guys but I can't go either. I forgot I have to do something really really important. But you...just go! (pushes them out and closes the door)

Ross: (chuckles a bit) You're such a bad actor.

Rachel: Truth, but you know what. YOU are even worse!

Ross: (she sits down beside him) You have to pay for that (he starts tickling her and she laughs and tries to stop him)

Rachel: Stop, Ross stop it!

He stops and they both laugh. Then Ross gets serious and you can see he's frustrated and depressed.

Rachel: (softly) what happend`?

Ross: (mimicking Emily) 'Holidays? No way! I have to work and I'm not in the mood for holiday'.

Rachel: That bad, huh?

Ross: (plays nervously with his fingers) I don't know what to do anymore.

Rachel: Aw sweetie.

She pulls him into a hug and he gladly accepts it. He holds her tight and she soflty rubs his shoulders. They stay in that position while talking.

Ross: I don't feel like I'm having a wife...I can't even remember the last time we slept together....seems like eternity.

Rachel: Ross, I'm sorry. Is there anything I can do for you?

Ross: (whispering) just be here (he holds her even tighter)

After a while he breaks the hug but their face nearly meet. They look into each others eyes and then both close them. He softly leans into a kiss but immediately breaks it, as if he did something wrong. Ross opens his eyes and sees Rachel's still closed. He leans in for another kiss but this time more passionate and intense. He wraps his arms around her and so does she. He then starts to kiss her neck but then suddenly stops and just leans his head against her neck and softly begins to sob. She looks surprised but then hugs him again, feeling his breath on her skin. The whole situation gives her the feeling of being needed, so she just hugs him and rubs his back, while softly whispering that everything will be okay.

Time lapses:

They're still hugging but then Ross slowly moves back and wipes the last tears away, a bit ashamed.

Ross: (softly) sorry...

Rachel: for what?

Ross: I don't want you to feel used, I was just caught up in the moment.

Rachel: It's okay.

Ross: I'm glad you're here, I really need you right now.

Rachel smiles at him as he kisses her cheeck, gets up and leaves.

Ross: G'night.

Rachel: Yeah, night (she looks after him and then touches softly her cheek where Ross she kissed before)

Two weeks later. R&E's

Emily: ...not now, okay!

Ross: (visibly disappointed) But when? Now is the right time for us.

Emily: Ross, why are you doing this to me. Do you know what you expect me to do? Give up my job so you can have a baby? You're so selfish!

Ross: (angry) WE would have a baby, and don't you dare talking to me like this! I am not selfish. (softly) I just want to have a baby with you. Why don't you get that?

Emily: (softly, too) Let's wait, there's no time now and it's too early for us. And I have to tell you that...

switch to Ross who's now talking to Rachel on the phone

Ross: ....she has to go to Chicago for a week.

Rachel: (V.O) Honestly Ross, what's this, huh? You two are constantly fighting, you never share the same opinion. Where's this going...Is this a marriage?

Ross: (upset) hey Rach, don't judge my marriage, that's not what I wanted you to do! (calmer) I want you to come over, maybe drink a glass of wine`?

Rachel: (V.O) Sorry. Sure, I'll be right there. Bye (hangs up the phone)

Ross slowly puts the phone back and then runs his fingers through his hair, looking thoughful. AFter a while, he gets up and goes into the kitchen. He brings out a bottle of wine and two glasses and puts them on the table which is in front of the couch. Then he puts on some music, lets say Bryan Adam's disc 'the best of me'. There's a knock at the door.

Ross: Come in, it's open!

Rachel opens the door and slowly enters. After she put down her coat, she looks at him and just smiles sympathetic, trying to cheer him up a bit.  It works. He smiles back weakly but you can see in his eyes that he feels miserable and that he really needs her now.

Rachel: Aw sweetie, come here (she goes to him and hugs him)

Ross: (whispering, while hugging her) Rachel

After a while, Ross breaks the hug

Ross: I'm glad you're here. Let's have a glass of wine.

Rachel: Yeah, and you tell me what happend. - pause- Ross, is she already in Chicago?

Ross: (nods) Yep, she had to go an hour after she told me. (he gives Rachel a glass of wine)

Rachel: Thanks (they both sit down on the couch) -silence- I don't get it. What's going on between you two?

Ross: Actually, I've no idea! She shows me sides of hers I've never seen before.

Rachel: What exactly?

Ross: that she's obssesed with her job....loves it more than me.....that she doesn't want to have a baby

Rachel: (surprised and shocked) a baby`?

Ross: Yeah, see I want a family and I told her that I want a baby.

Rachel: Now? (Ross stares at her)

Ross: (nodding) yeah

Rachel: You're only married for a few weeks and you already asked her to have a baby together?

Ross: uhu

Rachel: wow, you're fast!

Ross: hey, what's the deal?

Rachel: Ross, you know how much she loves her job and then you ask her to have a baby. That means she has to give up her job and everything. Hey, I know that you love children and I'm sure you'll have them someday but don't push Emily into that.

Ross: (thinks) I guess I can do that (smiles weakly)

Rachel: Again I have to say, give her time.

Ross nods and then takes Rachel's hand. He looks at her, then away, and back at her again.

Rachel: (curious) what`? Is there something else?

Ross: ahh, nooo...well yes, but it's not that important.

Rachel: Ross, we both know that you suck as an actor. Now tell me!

Ross: (hesitates) You know, Emily and I....we haven't (again hesitates)

Rachel: (smiles at him) sleept togehter.

Ross: Since weeks.....and it kinda drives me crazy...you know (looks embarrassed)

Rachel: It's okay, I know how you feel, believe me. (they share a moment)

Ross still holds Rachel's hand and they just look at each other. Backgroundmusic gets a bit louder when "heaven" starts to play.

Rachel: Wanna dance (looks hopefully at him)

Ross: Sure

They get up and go in the middle of the room, still holding hands. Rachel wrapes her arms around Ross's neck and he puts his hands on her waist so they stand now really close. They face each other while dancing but then they come closer and Rachel leans her head against Ross's cheek. After a while dancing like this, Ross turns his head a bit and whispers in her ear:

Ross: (slowly) I wanna feel you, Rachel....now (music gets loud and we can't hear them anymore) Ross starts kissing her neck while Rachel runs her fingers under his shirt and gently rubs his back. Then they stop for a moment, facing each other again. But they can't hold themself back and start kissing passionately and intense. They move slowly into Ross's bedroom where they start undressing each other, and we're out of the room. (sorry guys :D)

Next morning, same room. We see Ross sleeping while Rachel lies beside him looking thougful but happy. Ross slowly starts to move and then opens his eyes, seeing Rachel beside him. First he looks a bit shocked and then realizes.

Ross: (guilty and embarrassed) hi

Rachel: morning

They stare at each other - awkward silence- Ross then gets up and puts on his pants with his back against Rachel.

Rachel: Ross, talk to me. What are you thinking?

Ross: (hesitates) I was thinking.....I......see I'm married.

Rachel: (looks down) yeah I know

Ross: But that's not the point. (Rachel looks up and Ross turns around and now their facing each other)

Rachel: then what is the point?

Ross: the pint is, that I... I don't regret anyting - pause- neither my marriage with Emily nor our night. It was actually what I needed (laughs a bit) sounds stupid, huh?

Rachel: no, not to me.

Ross: Ah Rach, you helped me so much and since Emily and I  haven't cleared any of our problems yet  I will need you in future, too.

Rachel smiles slightly

Ross: But I seriously don't think sleeping with each other is the best solution (both laugh a bit and then he goes to her and hugs her)

Ross: (as in TOW all the kissing) Thank you Rachel

Rachel: I hope things aren't now awkward between us...

Ross: no, they won't.

Scene fades out
 

3 days later. Emily is still in Chicago. M&R's Rachel, Phoebe and Monica are there.

Monica: I wonder where Ross is. He was supposed to be here by now. I haven't seen him the last two days.

Phoebe: Seems like he has a lot of work to do.

Rachel sits on the couch and listens to them.

Rach: (V.O) Yeah, great`! He's avoiding me. Like I haven't see that coming. How stupid am I? I haven't seen him in this two days either and we used to see us every day. Does he feel guilty? (realizes something) Hey wait, he cheated, he did it again. He cheated on Emily, with me. Ross cheated for the second time. I always thought that Ross would never ever do something like that and now he did it twice.....(thinking a bit more) Okay, It's Emily...I don't care. But why is he avoiding me?

Monica: Rach? Rach? RACHEL!

Rachel: What?

Monica: Joey asked if we all go to the movies tonight?

Rachel: You guys go, I don't feel like going to the movies. I'm going to take a nice bath and realx a bit.

Phoebe: Okay, (to Monica) so it's you, Chandler, Joey and me.

Monica: Yeah and I call Ross, maybe he's coming too.

She picks up the phone and dials.

Monica: hey Ross, it's me.....listen, where are you`? ....still? ....oh, so you won't make it to dinner?.....and what about a movie later?....woa, sounds you've a lot to do....okay then....bye.
 

Monica: He won't make it to dinner and to the movies neither.

Time lapses. Everyone, except for Rachel and of course Ross, already leftl. Rachel is in the bathroom. We only hear her singing a song. Then she comes out wearing a bathrobe.  She walks by the phone but suddenly stops, turns and picks it up.

Rachel: (V.O)  I call him. I want to know why he's acting like this.

She dials and waits.

Rachel: (V.O) C'mon, pick up the phone...

She waits but then someone knocks and she quickly hangs up the phone and rushes to the door.

Rachel: (out loud) ...stupid, stupid.....who the hell (opens the door and immediately stops talking)

We see Ross leaning against the doorway, smiling lovingly at her. She looks very surprised and before she realizes what happens, he kisses her on the lips and then breaks it.

Ross: What do you think of......repeating our night?

Rachel smiles confused

Rachel: Ross, stop. What is going on? First you avoid me and now you come here, kiss me and ask me to have sex with you!? Did I missed something?

Ross: Avoiding you? I didn't avoid you. I was so busy I had barely time to go home and do something else.....I'm sorry. And I thought since Emily isn't here and you are here we could spend an other night togehter? no strings attached. (he looks hopefully)

Rachel: (starts to smile and wrapes her arms around his neck) Some people call that an affair!

Ross: (raises his eyebrows) Okay, but let's say a top secret affair.

He gets her on his arms and carries her into her room where he throws her onto the bed. She starts giggling while  Ross lockes the door, turns around and starts undressing himself. (woah, I want to see that for real one day!!!) He unbuttons his shirt and pulls it off and Rachel bites her bottom lip in pleasure. Then he lays ontop of her and starts kissing her neck while opening the knot of the bathrobe belt. He throws the bathrobe away and starts to kiss Rachels body.

Rachel: (almost moaning) Ross....the others will be back soon.

Ross: (while kissing her neck again) I (kisses) don't (again) care.

Rachel: but....

Ross: (looks into her eyes) I locked the door

She smiles and they kiss. He slips his tongue into her mouth and she gladly accepts it. Things get heavy and again...we leave the room :)

Scene fades out
 

Rachel's room. It's 4 in the morning and we only can see the covers of the bed. We focus on the bed for a while and then the covers move a bit and we see Rachels head. She's lying on the side, her eyes closed. Again the covers move and we see Ross, lying beside her, hugging her from behind. HIs eyes are open. He slowly turns to his side and stares at the ceiling, looking thougful.

Scene fades out
 

Rachel's room again. It's morning and we see Rachel still lying in her bed, sleeping. But then she slowly wakes up and opens her eyes. She rubs her head, trying to remember last night and then smiles. Her smiles frowns as she doesn't find what she's looking for. Ross.  A bit disappointed she gets up and starts dressing herself. A few minutes later she enters he living- room, finding Joey, Chandler, Phoebe and Monica having breakfast.

Monica: Rach, aren't you late for work?

Rachel: (looks at her watch) Uh, why haven't you woke me up?

Monica: That's not my job (grins at her)

Rachel: (rolls her eyes) yeah and now, I'm going to be late.

Phoebe: Hey, you're never late except for today. What happend last night? (everyone stares at her)

Rachel: (uncomfortable) uh, nothing

Joey: (ironic) yeah sure.

Rachel. No seriously, I had to work!

Chandler: Do we know him?

Rachel: Oh c'mon guys, stop it! (goes into the bathroom)

Phoebe: One day, we'll know Rachel Green. You can't hide him forever! (grins)

Rachel: (from the bathroom) I heard that!

Phoebe: I know!

Scene fades out.
 

Ross's bedroom. We only can see Ross's back and hear some noises, after a while of listing, you realize that he's kissing someone and then we hear another person giggling.

a voice: Ross, stop that.

Ross: C'mon, I know you like that (kisses her again)

voice: I never said that.

Ross: Rach, I know you way too good. (the covers fall on the floor and we see Ross ontop of Rachel, he's in boxers, she wears a bra and a slip)

Rachel: (gets a serious look) Ross, are we crazy?

Ross: (immediately stops and looks at her) why?

Rachel: You're married and we're having an affair!

Ross: (smiles) I can't tell you why but this situation somehow turns me on (she raises her eyebrows)

Rachel: Dr. Gellar, seems I don't know you at all (they laugh and then kiss)

a few hours later, int hte morning. They both still lie in the bed aseep but then Rachel slowly opens her eyes and sees Ross lying beside her, sleeping peacfully. She looks at him lovingly and smiles a bit.

Rachel: (V.O) Look at this man. Sweet, charming, good looking, romantic...Emily doesn't deserve him. He's way too good for her. ...I deserve him....do I?

She looks a bit sad while Ross opens his eyes.

Ross: Rach, what's with you? Anything wrong?

Rachel: Nope, I'm perfectly fine.

Ross: What time is it? (looks at his watch) Oh shoot, I've to go!

Rachel: yeah me too (they both get up) and start dressing themselves.

Ross: hm Rach, you know that Emily's coming back today?

Rachel: Yeah I know ( he doesn't face her and doesn't see her disappoointed look)

Ross: (turns around) Rach, thanks for everything. (he kisses her on the cheek and quickly leaves into the living room)

Rachel: yeah...

Scene fades out
 

Same morning at R&Ms. Everyone except for Ross and Rachel are having breakfast as Rachel enters the apartment.

Monica: (jumps up) Rach, oh my god, where have you been? Hell, I was worried about you.

Rachel: Calm down Mon, I'm here (sits at the table and pours herself a cup of coffe)

Joey: Now tell us, who's the guy? (everyones eyes are on her)

Rachel: You won't stop, huh?

C/M/J/P: hell noo!

Rachel: See, you don't  know him and it's nothing serious, really.

Phoebe: But we wanna know him!

Rachel: I probably never meet him again. It was just a one night thing. (they all groan)

Joey: Oh please, that's so not true.

Rachel: It is! I can't even remember his name..

Monica: yeah...so lame...

They all stare at a helpless Rachel and Scene fades out
 

A soft song starts playing in the background. Here's a montage of the next month...

First Scene: R&E's apartment. Emily and Ros are sitting on the couch, watching TV and cuddling. Emily smiles and kisses Ross softly on the lips. They talk, first normal but then it gets more and more serious and finally it ends in another fight. Emily gets up furious and both yell at each other. Then all of sudden, Ross jumps up and rushes out, slamming the door. Emily sits back onto the couch, upset and angry but also sad and hurt.

Second Scene: We see Ross walking in a park. His hands in his pockets and his looking down. It starts raining but it seems as if he doesn't notice. Scene switches and we see him totally wet walking up the stairs and then knocking at a door. Rachel opens and they both just look at each ohter, share a moment. Then she grabs his hand and pulls him into the apartment.

Third Scene: R&E's apartment after another fight between Emily and Ross. We see him standing in the room, looking hurt and frustrated while Emily's grabing her coat and her keys with tears in her eyes. She leaves the apartment and soon after her, Ross leaves too. Scene switches to the park again. He's sitting on a bench, his head buried in his hands. Someone comes up from behind and sits next to him. We move a bit and see, that it is Rachel. Without saying anything, she lais her hand on his knee which makes him look at her. He's almost crying. Rachel slowly pulls him into a hug and scene fades out.

Forth Scene: Rachel's bedroom. She's lying in her bed staring at the ceiling. She looks tired and thougful. Song fades out and camera zooms out. We see a bunch of clothes lying around her bed. Then the covers move and we see Ross head.

Rachel: (whispering) Ross? You have to go before Monica's up!

Ross: (half asleep) hmmmmm

Rachel: C'mon get up (kisses his cheek and shakes him a bit)

Ross: (sleepy) huh? (opens his eyes)

Rachel: Get up, it's 7 in the morning.

Ross: woah, already.

Rachel gets up and Ross turns on the other side, staring at the wall. Rachel notices and looks down.

Rachel: Ross. Maybe we should stop our little affair. (waits for his reaction but he's silent) I mean, you've got problems ant I don't think they get better this way.

Ross: (turns to face her) no Rach, see, I want my marriage to work but Emily don't and now she's away again for one week. She doesn't care...she has no idea how I feel.....and that here...this here is the only thing I have right now.

Rachel: (confused) huh?

Ross: It's the thing that  keeps me going. You're helping me so much. I don't want my marriage to fail...not a second divorce

Rachel: yeah but why are you here then?

Ross: Because I need you, ...this.

Scene fades out
 

3 months have passed now since Ross and Rachel started their affair. No one knows about them. Again Emily was ouf for two weeks because of her job. She spent them in Los Angeles while Ross and Rachel spent several nights together. Rachel's feelings for Ross grow everyday and night she's with him but she don't want to tell him. She knows that he doesn't have the same feelings for her.

It's the day of Emily's return. Ross caught her at the airport and is now driving home with her. We're in the car.

Emily: So how were the two weeks?

Ross: (guilty) okay,...I guess. Yours?

Emily: boring

Ross: (surprised by this word) huh? Boring!? I thought you love your job so much, there's nothing about it.

Emily: I do love my job,...I did. (Ross shoots her a look) yeah see, in these two weeks in LA I realized something very important.

Ross: What?

Emily: Ross, our marriage...It isn't really what I imagined it would be. (Ross raises his eyebrows) See, we fight constantly, never share the same opinion, and we barely see each other...

Ross: (panicing a bit) What does that mean? Are you asking me for a divorce?

Emily: (shocked) What? Noo, no way! I love you, Ross. It's just, I want our marriage to work, I really do. I realized how selfish I was with my job and everything.

Ross smiles a bit, but feels now incredibly guilty.

Emily: I already talked to my boss and said, that I want my weekends off and that I won't work longer than 6pm.

Ross: (speechless) Wow

Emily: I'm sorry what I did to you. You must have been gone through hell.

Ross: Yeah, I did...

Scene fades out with Ross guilty look.
 

Next day in Central Perk. Rachel's sitting on the couch when Ross enters.

Ross: hey

Rachel: hi (takes a sip of her coffee) Why did you call me? Another fight with Emily?

Ross: (can't find the right words) uh Rach, I have to talk to you... -pause- (smiles) we didn't fight, not aat all.

Rachel seems surprised

Ross: Rach, Emily and I want to try it again. Work things out, you know. We want our marriage to work.

Rachel: (even more surprised) wow, so what are you gonna do?

Ross: Rach, we have to stop. Stop our affair. I don't want to risk anything.

Rachel: (disappointed) oh.....(turns her head to take another sip of coffee) wow

Ross: Are you okay with that?

Rachel: (pretends to be) yeah sure, why not?! (laughs fakely)

Ross: I knew you'd be okay. Thanks again for everything Rach! (kisses her on the cheek and then hugs her) And now I've to go. Emily and I are having dinner tonight and I'll cook. (smiles brightly) See ya, bye (leaves)

Rachel just sits there, heartbroken. She feels like someone's ripping her heart out of her and smashes it on the wall. You can see on her face the pain she's feeling right now.

Rachel: (V.O) Today was the day I feared the most. The day he tells me that he doesn't need me anymore...

She takes another sip of her coffee and then runs her fingers through her hair.

Rachel: (V.O.) is it possible? She now actually wants him more than her job? And he, he dumps me because of that stupid bitch...I can't believe it.

Scene fades out.
 

Two weeks later. R&E's apartment. Ross is sitting on the couch, reading the newspaper when someone knocks at the door. He gets up and smiles brightly, knowing it's Emily who tries to fool him. He goes to the door and opens it and gets a surprised look. It's Rachel. He'd never seen her this pale before. She smiles weakly at him.

Ross: (happily) hey Rach, come in (she enters the apartment) Ah Rach, you never gonna believe what happend! (they both sit on the couch). While Ross talks, he focuses on a spot on the table while Rachel faces him) Me and Emily, we spent the best two weeks together! It's going so great and I never was this happy since...can't remember. She even came up with the baby idea again. Can you believe this?

He eventually looks at Rachel and sees tears streaming down her face. She quickly wipes them away and takes a deep breath. Ross's by now very worried.

Ross: Rach? What's going on with you? What happend?

Rachel: (can barely speak) Ross, I (starts to sob) I'm pregnant....
