Eungella

The Eungella National Rainforest Park is 85km inland from Mackay and at an elevation of 2600ft, although it's a tropical rainforest, as we are now above the Tropic of Capricorn it gets quite cool here.

Go to www.brokenriver.com.au for more into on where we stayed.

These Australian tree ferns grow to about 30 ft, there were many palms in amongst the red cedars and gum trees. Broken river is home to the platypus, they are most active at dawn and dusk hence no photos here. The river is in need of a good downpour of rain and the water levels are extremely low.

A Kookaburra and a Blue-faced Honeyeater dropped by onto our porch to see if we'd got any scraps, feeding the wildlife is discouraged here.

Possum feeding at night near the lodge.
