Global Warming and the Green House Effect
The greenhouse effect is when solar radiation passes through the earth's atmosphere.  Some of the outgoing infared radiation is trapped inside. This is a natural process so that the earth's tempeture is regulated. It may be a natural process but today there is too much solar radiation getting into the atmosphere because of holes in the atmosphere.
This leads to Glabal Warming.   This is when the earth's tempeture increases.  This can cause many changes in our climate and rainfall patterns.  Another problem is that ocean levels will rise and it effects humans, plants and animals.
The government passed the clean air act to reduce the amount of pollution. This acts forces companies to change their products so that certain amounts of pollutants are not realeased into the air.
Consumers can help reduce this problem by not buying products with the warning label of  pollution on them.  They can also drive less or buy more economical cars.
The environment is affected by global warming because sea levels are rising.  This covers islands and kills off some plants which affects the animals that feed on the plants.  Also the warm water in the ocean is killing algea.
The problems associated with Global Warming can be improved if people and the government work together. The government could start to ban products that contribute to global warming.  Also they could pass more laws to help decrease pollution.  We could continue to think and develope new sources of energy that don't pollute the earth also.
