Rosie Malek's Tragic
Illness and Story of Ongoing Recovery
|
Rosie was 16 at the time of her Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) hemorrhage, August 26, 2001. We were out camping overnight near our hometown, Faribault, MN. She is our only daughter. She was an A-B active student in a small private school, busy with friends and church activities, as we were also. Faith Malek
My daughter, Rosie, experienced a bleed from Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM), deep in her cerebrum, August 26, 2001. She did not have advance warning, just vomited, fell down, and was immediately comatose. She was airlifted to North Memorial, in the Twin Cities, and remained in a coma/drug induced coma for 2 1/2 weeks. Her brain pressure was very hard to keep down, and after day 5 as it shot upward, we were told she was probably not going to survive .........(Continued in "About Rosie" link, click here)
"Rosie's Place" has frequent postings on Rosie's current events and progress reports. It also has photos including her High School graduation portrait, of her recent birthday party, and a photo of Rosie and her E-Stim Therapist. Rosie talks of her special pet cats, named Shorty and Grumpy (photos of cats included). Under Memories there is a photo of Rosie at age 5 playing her violin at a relatives wedding. Support links for those suffering from AVM and some interesting family links are in the Menu Bar also. And Please sign Rosie's Guest book or send the Malek family an email of support, interests or feedback. We hope to post different items for Rosie as time goes on.
Rosie recently had surgery with high hopes of this helping her to speak. See Current Events. (08/14/2004)
